Agree'd. If Whiting wants to seal the FB role, would put Turner in the centre and Sammut in the halves.

Think it is always disappointing when a sportsperson with talent lets themselves down with misdemeanours.
Its nothing new unfortunatly.

no need to rush Horne back. Also Sammut can play 1. I would have something like (props interchangeable and 3 and 4 interchangeable).
1.Sammut
2.sharp
3.whiting
4.yeamen
5.briscoe
6.turner
7.long
8.omeley
9.houghton
10.dowes
11.tickle
12.westerman
13.fitzgibbon
subs
14.moa
15.lauaki
16.washbrook
17.Manu

With Horne and Radford to return it already feels more secure. A further signing, or preferably two, to follow during the season when the timing is right for all concerned would shore the squad up nicely.

Yep, as I say depends were Whiting wants to seal his place. Really feel he's earned a solid position. If he wants to own a centre spot, Sammut could play Fb, Turner in the halves until Horney is fit, then Turner sound back cover.

I don't see the point of putting Sammut in at 1 though, surely we'll get the best out of him by playing him at 6. Sammut and Long could be a really good partnership.

Would be heavily involved in the attacking line even he did play at 1. He has NRL experience in that position.

But he's excelled at 6 for Crusaders since he's been here. We need a quality 6 to play alongside Long IMO and Sammut would fit the bill. I think wherever he plays, if he arrives, he'll excell I'd just prefer him to play 6.

I agree with what your saying, but I would rather have Sammut, Horne, Long AND Whiting all on the pitch at the same time:

1. Sammut
3. Whiting
6. Horne
7. Long

If Horney were to be injured:

1. Whiting
3. Turner
6. Sammut
7. Long

Quote: Dan_FC "True, the back ups in the under 20s etc aren't necessarily the best but I think we have enough quality at this stage not to be too worried mate. I can see your points but out of the positions you mention, FB aside, we only need cover in those positions, Whiting, Yeaman and Turner can play centre and Briscoe too if needed, whereas at hooker Houghton was always going to be our number 1 choice so again it's just cover there. I do think we'll see a few new faces too so at this stage I wouldn't be to concerned.'"

Points well made mate! eusa_clap.gif just hope we can bring a couple in now, sammut would be a good start!

Quote: Forever FC "Gutted we have lost his talent but it was the right decision.Plenty of cap space now to have a look about for some decent talent.'"

and plenty of chance for some of the kids to stake a claim. I'm disappointed that some of them didnt get more game time last year and if you look at Wigan they seems to be calling kids up every week for debuts. I know there's a balance to strike but when we have a squad with less depth of experienced players i'd really hope to see more of Cunningham, Kent, Green, Jack Briscoe for example.

I think Cunningham is a future star based on his performance in France last year against a sizeable Catalans pack. Now's the time to give them some game time. I'd rather we finish 10th by playing the kids than 9th by panic buying.

We could play Sharp at FB, Give more game time to Lyne.

Or..... make a loan offer for Jones-Bishop.

No need to panic, or make knee -jerk signings.

Sorry - had to disappear for a bit. My reasoning is that I think Sammut is a 1 primarily and Turner is a developing half-back. But, I take your point and putting Sammut at 6 is a definite positive option. The problem for me is it puts Whiting at 1 where he will provide fewer opportunities for players around him. Sammut can strike from deep, Whiting can't.

We do have the small problem of him not being a Hull FC player but, that minor inconvenience aside, I think he won't mind playing in either spot.
