Quote: Bal "Very easy to put it all on Radford and he has to take a lot of it, but for me, last night was disappointing as the players heads went down. Same old problem, things don't go right, we panic and fail. I said last night, 10 minutes in when it was 12-6, if we don't panic, we'll win. I still think that would have been the case, we were the better team for the first 15.

Personally I think this week is a huge test of both the players, the coach, the club and the fans. We can't just win next week against Wakefield, we have to destroy them. I suspect that in the players meeting that is pretty much exactly what was said. I'm expecting a big response next week.

I'm not ready to call for Radford's head, but if we don't get the response against Wakefield and then that doesn't continue then I will certainly be convinced that it is time. I suspect if this is still a problem at Easter then that will be it.'"

I am no radford fan and never have been. Last night though the players do need to take most of the responsibility IMO

I said on another thread that there's plenty of blame to go around. During the 80 minutes of a game there's not a lot Radford can do. It's down to the players.

But it's not just about the 80 minutes on the pitch. It's about the training, the tactics and all the other preparation in-between. Radford and the coaches have to be held accountable there (and I'm not saying the players are blameless there either).

Think Radford must now be on the last few minutes of borrowed time.

I've never been his biggest fan and always sensed (though not proven) that he may have been in Pearson's ear to get rid of Gentle on the promise that he'd do a better job, of which he never has.

As a life long fan for over 40 years now, I've always stayed positive regarding Hull and expect improvement is never far away.

With the close season recruitment, I'd shared others view that we just judge Radford 8-10 games in and post Easter Monday is a good time with us having played most of the teams by then.

Even with the defeat last night, I would still stick with assessing the situation in a few weeks, however during half time last night my view changed. At the end of the half, my positivity remained. We'd started strongly and had demonstrated in other games our ability to score more freely this season. A couple of early second half tries and we'd be back in with a shout.

Then came the changing room images. Clear as day, you see Radford walk through and out of the far end of the dressing room with a 'talk to the hand' dismissal to at least one of our players. To me, that moment showed things aren't right in our dressing room. This, followed by a very public 'Coaches asked to leave' endorses that view.

Of course, all sports have teams that have clear the air talks, but these are usually behind closed doors, a day or two after a defeat and if reported, done so a few days after the event.

So if things aren't right in the dressing room and there's s divide, then we've reached the point of no return. If this is the case, then Radford's position is untenable and he will have to go now.

I know Ellis has come out and said the players only meeting isn't a sleight against Radford but I'm sceptical about this. Imo it indicates there's some kind of issue(s) that for one reason or another they felt they couldn't share with the coaches. That's not right because they have to be working together to fix things and the coaches need to know if the players (even if it's just one or two) are unhappy about something.

To be honest though, this should have been kept private. Radford should not have said what he did to the media. I really can't see what he was hoping to achieve by letting everyone know he and the coaches were kicked out of the changing room.

Just to be clear, you are calling both Ellis and Taylor liars? Because while I'm also sceptical I hesitate to do that personally.

It's players kind of in their own way absolving the coaching staff of blame and taking ownership of their own short comings. Hopefully they had a right good barney among themselves and got it all out!
This isn't even a big thing. Plenty of teams have done it in the past. Roosters did it last week
Tbf v cas and wigan individual errors/moments of incredible stupidity cost us points and as bad as it was the initial tactics the other nights were working. On another day would of been up 18.0. Lack of plan B was a worry but I think that all fell down with Talanoa off and all the positional changes due to that and the 2 halves each having the worst games they've had for us.
3 losses is truly dissapointing but that's the 1st genuinely bad performance so I'm not gonna wet myself over it just yet.
I suppose we'll see what the players are made of on Friday. Not so much in performance(must win tho) but attitude. Mentally they were weak on Thursday. Worst part of it all for me!!

For me it's a reflection that the players took responsibility and wanted to sort it out amongst them. No big deal for me and we only know about it because radford mentioned it to the press

Yup. The issue here is not so much the meeting as Radford blurting it out to the assembled press. Here's the YP reporter's take on it:

if players are having clear the air talks they are hardly going to air any grievence against the coaching staff if they are there in the dressing room with them

Good honest appraisal that. I particularly liked this opinionEllis, as professional a player as you could wish to meet and someone who must surely rue his decision to join the Black and Whites four years ago'"
