Quote: Staffs FC "On the other hand St Helens, the most successful side on the field in recent SL and CC history only achieved a B grade I believe.
'"
My post was about Hull, not saints. st helens is a town, Hull is a city. Our potential is way above saints in terms of crowds, comemrcial opportunities etc. Anyway, I'm sure if their council had given them a shiny new stadium they'd have got top marks too
Quote: Staffs FC "So success on the field is clearly not the be all and end all as you claim. '"
I can't think of many professional sports clubs who have thrived without success on the field. There are plenty who have disappeared or fallen off the cliff though. Prudent and professional management need to run alongside the success but I'm not convinced we're doing that particularly well at the moment either.
Quote: Staffs FC "Incidentally despite all the gnashing of teeth and hand wringing from the likes of yourself we remain 7th in the league and in a playoff spot - enough for us to obtain the point for contributing to the competition as the new playoff structure stands. This despite another crippling injury list and visa issues.'"
True, however 4 points from the last 18 means that we're going in the wrong direction and the final league positions aren't decided in May
Quote: Staffs FC "Ou crowd average will be well over 10K this year'"
You've changed your tune since last week when sub 10k attendances were some way off
Quote: Staffs FC "If Hull slip to a B grade as a result of falling crowds and league finishing position in the next couple of years then so be it. As far as I know that will still qualify us to play in the top competition. We have a superb community and youth structure, we play at a top ground and we have a large base of committed fans who will not walk away when the going gets tough. Maybe not 10K of them but 7-8K have the stomach for it. We will remain competitive as the import quotas tighten and our younger British players gain more experience. The club needs to combine that with the recruitment of top quality overseas signings which will hold up the crowd levels and improve performance.'"
I doubt we'd be operating at maximum cap with crowds of 7 or 8k as we don't have a sugar daddy who would pump in the £1/2m or so needed every year to sustain it. That would leave us anable to compete for the best players and struggling to keep hold of our top talent
Quote: Staffs FC " Despite poor performances this year we are 2 maybe 3 players away from competing in the top 4.'"
Pretty much every team is 2 or 3 top signings away from being a top 4 side

Staffs FC "I'll leave the trying to look big and clever to you you're a past master at it I can see. How's the revolution coming along by the way ?
I think you've got the wrong man there pal. I'm not one of your revolutionary types. I know that no one else will come in with enough money to buy the club and then pump a stack in to make big changes. All I want is for us to appoint a chief exec with the experience and qualities required by our club and a coach who sends the team out to win games rather than one who's sole aim is to try and bore the opposition into submission
