| I see ScottyT from Geordie Shore has had a dig on twitter, might be a new low point for the club, hes not actually wrong with his comments either!
"A dinosaur for a coach. Owners got his mate in on recruitment who has the same scouting ability as Stevie Wonder. Clubs a mess; feel for the fans, who are paying their hard-earned money to watch that. Lured into their season tickets under false pretences. Lightyears behind Rovers now, it’s not even close."

I'm happy for a clear out to happen, but we need a proper plan of what we want to recruit next. I was happy to get Smith at the time given his track record, but in hindsight it seems like we just hired him because he was convenient and available. Did we even interview for Hodgson's replacement? Or did we just give him the job as soon as we found out he was interested?
We need to figure out exactly what we want our identity to be, what our playing budget is, and identify the main problems that need to be resolved. Then we need to find someone with the ideas and drive to deliver that. Sacking Smith and hiring someone just for the sake of it isn't going to solve anything. I just don't trust the club to do the work and make the right decision.

Even if there was a recruitment process and other candidates he'd have been odds on to get the job, his track record is very good. But its just not working, I take intk account that the budget isnt high and we've had some bad luck with cards and injuries but expected to see at least some green shoots of promise.
Pearson's record of hiring coaches isnt great. At City for every Peter Taylor and Phil Brown there was a Molby, Parkinson and Dowie.

I completely agree but we've lost 12, gained 7 and integrated youngsters. The player turnover has been there, enough not to have the malaise there any longer.
Unfortunately for Tony his time should come to an end.
He wouldn't get another SL coaching gig after us.
Time to give a young hungry coach a go.
Peters has improved HKR
Wellens Peet and Burgess are all young relatively new coaches too and have their teams playing good rugby albeit with considerable riches but still they have structure and desire and their players play for them.'"
Agree with bombed out, the player turnover during the off season and it being so early in to this season I doubt its player power or downing tools. I honestly just think it’s down to a lack of direction/instruction from the head coach and his side kick.
I am now of the opinion that either the game has past Smith by, he is now of an age where he no longer has the fight/stomach to get stuck in to the task at hand, is too laid back and wants to be everyone’s friend as opposed to laying the law down of all of the above.
The players whilst culpable and shoulder some of the responsibility for yesterday they simply do not look as though they have had much training or instructed/coached with clear structures imbedded in to the training program.
As for fitness it’s just another season were it looks like it’s a feature that has not been focused on.
Watching London today whilst they aren’t a great side by any means at least they look like they have some idea and organised plan they are playing too, as for us it’s just a disorganised rabble.
That is down to a failure in the coaching set up.

| Pretty damming 30 or so minutes listen that.
Probably the most concerning thing is the mention of the current facilities, we have been told that the players are using a world class facility yet it sounds like the clubs operating out of a spare cupboard in the uni.

Only managed to listen to the first 20 or so minutes but that was the biggest shock for me too. Sounds so disjointed

| A thoroughly depressing listen and just reaffirms what most are thinking in that it’s a professional club run on an amateur basis. Neither James nor Dan believe it’s anywhere near cap and that if it is things are seriously wrong.
Pretty much everything that’s been said on here was echoed by them so if we as fans can see it and the sports journalists can see then why the hell can’t the owner of the club or the head coach see it.

Makes you think about giving up supporting them, everything they said was utterly depressing from the training set up to recruitment and retention and the lack of a long term plan

| Wow pretty damning stuff but lets face it when some of us who have defended this club through some real crisis's on here and elsewhere over many years are saying what we are surely things are just as the guys on the podcast said; gradually and incrementally we are spiralling backwards. It has been going on for years and it is getting worse and yes it is soul destroying for those of us who absolutely love the club. We just expect to get a regular stuffing now it's almost part of being a fan. There are no excuses because we all know that on and off the field we are going backwards. We have to renegotiate the lease on National Avenue so we move to the university. We are told it is a massive step forward but it now appears, as the truth is out, it's another cheap fix and likely a step backwards.
No one at the club could ignore the furore on here on Facebook and even on X on Saturday night yesterday and today but we are still waiting to hear anything to give us a bit of succour and indeed hope. Dans obviously trying to get a comment from the owner or the Chief Executive but 48 hours plus have passed and nothing!!! It almost seems that as they have our money our love and our often blind faith why should they??

Because without it Hull FC ceases to exist, which none of us want to see. We're stuck.

That was brutal. Well done to all three for for their honesty. Every concern voiced on here was laid bare in stark reality.
We really are in a mess and the accountability starts at the top. The fish rots from the head.
We need answers quickly and what the plan is to turn it around otherwise with the level of toxicity the club is going to implode on itself.

Notwithstanding the above, finance and health god willing, I will always renew come what may.
I wouldn't blame others who choose not to.
