Quote: Mrs Barista "For a champion of empathy and respect of opinion I feel that your post is a little inflammatory, but respect your sentiment. I understand that if you don't believe that resources should provide some sort of expectation framework it could be jarring to point out that the 4 sides who file full accounts are those who completely dominate, off field infrastructure and marquee signings not withstanding.

As for being divisive, this is a forum. We're not here to agree, that would be silly. I'm entitled to feel satisfied that this has been a reasonable season in the context of previous ones, and to share that. Hopefully you can empathise with this feeling.'"

Quote: Chris71 "Had we not been in the position we have been then to extent I’d agree with you however we’ve had a golden opportunity in front of us more than once but failed spectacularly to take. Based on every other teams performances this season we are not a 7th placed team.

I agree the new signings will indeed improve us but in terms of player quality but we will unfortunately still be stuck with the same lack of any apparent structures in place. So we just won’t see the true potential of the improvements or get the best out of the what we have.

I don’t agree that we can’t expect more or it’s untealistic and we should just accept mediocrity.

The level of performance last night against a very poor Huddersfield side is and should be unacceptable and no excuses for it.
As for galvanising the fan base I agree but again the last two home performances as they are the most recent will do nothing to do that in fact it’s doing the opposite and actually driving people away and the boos ringing out last night are evidence of that and the contempt the players and coach seem to show in the fans. AP had also made a huge clanger by stating LR has the job for as long as AP is there when he is clearly unable to solve the issues that continue to dog the performances on the field.

You go on again about wanting respect and empathy yet you seem unable to do it yourself.

I haven’t and won’t question anyone’s feelings as you can’t and as I said in the past have defended you with you negative takes on pre match views etc being empathetic to you self defence mechanism but you show little if any to anyone else with views or feelings different to yours.'"

Were fans booing the team? I was on the concourse by that point and wondered if it were the team or idiots blaming the ref (who I thought had a good game)

Quote: Mrs Barista "Of course, but you will always get some over and under performers - Leeds being the opposite of Salford if you like.

The reality is that Leeds, Wigan, Warrington and St Helens all file full accounts due to their size - assets, turnover, number of employees. The likes of us, Cas, Rovers are exempt. It's really not that surprising that these clubs dominate in the long term. Perhaps more surprising that others threaten this group for silverware on occasion.'"

So you agree that if we finish 7th were underperforming ?

The middle of the table is often where there is most bunching, so I think positions can be misleading, especially if you’re only one win behind a couple of teams or it comes down to points difference.

For where Hull are in their cycle, I think 15 wins from 27 is pretty decent. As a club looking to compete nearer the top of the league, I agree you’re in need of renewal, and you are having a bit of changing of the guard in the squad. I suspect it feels worse than it is because your home form has been very poor (as noted on another thread).

Boos at the hooter were definitely for the team.

atmosphere was so poor last night that I don't even think I heard the Ref get the usual insults! you know its a bad night when that happens icon_lol.gif

I left the ground, last night totally perplexed and deflated and, yes, at one of the lowest ebbs in 60 years of support. I’ve posted my opinion on the “Radford out” thread so won’t go over old ground. To Mrs B. I took my brother, who is seriously ill and although a season pass holder attended only his second game this season. What a load of we witnessed from an half assed bunch of so called professionals. It was totally abject and these players are totally molly coddled with upto date resources, probably up there with the best. AP has funded the training facilities with no expense spared. We are up there with this so called top 4 you keep harping on about. Get down off your high horse and smell the coffee, pun intended. Do not belittle anyone who has an opinion opposite to yourself. We all have our own ideas and feelings, respect them. To Jake, the boos at the end of the game came from the East stand, directed at the team.

Correct that it feels worse as the Home form is so much worse than the Away. In the table of course points are points and doesn't matter where you play to earn them. But its Home games that sets the mood of the fans, and sells the corporate boxes, tickets & merchandise, and we are having a shocker.

Sort of. I guess what I'm saying is long term the top 4 are the top 4 resource wise. There's then a group of mid table sides like us, Cas, Wakefield. Cas own their own ground so their balance sheet looks a bit healthier but in terms of accumulated losses we're all about the same around £2m. No idea about Catalans as they are obviously registered in France. You're then into the ones perennially in the bottom group - Rovers, Hudds, London. - with much heftier losses. So there are groups of clubs and bandings of finances which broadly correlate to long term performance. We're in the middle one and will finish in a mid table position. I understand the PR of the club, coupled with recent silverware, create a sense of expectation that's not aligned to this, but in the long term the paradigm is hard to argue against. We have no assets other than the fans so our support is disproportionately important to keeping the whole thing going.

Nobody has been belittled. So much over reaction on here at times.

If people post an opinion they can't expect everyone to agree.

Indeed. I'm lucky in that I can get to most away games but the real pain is that we've reserved our best home performances - the Derby, 5 back to back tries v Leeds - for much earlier in the season. It's a big off season ahead for pass sales Leeds will get their shizzle together, Wigan will be transformed by Hastings, Saints will continue to have the best squad and Warrington remain supremely well financed. We will need to pedal harder just to stand still IMO.
