| The only back we should sign in my eyes would be a decent specialised centre who would improve us , an average centre or utility back would be pointless as I think we have enough cover there . If 1-5 is who most think will be , still leaves us with Michaels , Lancaster , naughton spare plus whiting and yeaman if pushed . Chase would be a gamble , but if he's available I think it's one worth taking , pryce is average at best and Snyed as 1 good game in 3 . Badly need some flair and pace in the halfs , so chase for me out of who we think is available .

Personally,I think with Brian Smith having a full pre-season
with Wakefield, they will be more ultra competitive, and A Tupou is a decent player...
For us, I'd only sign Chase, if his contract was loaded with get out clauses, if he transgressed..
for mine, ball in hand, he's an enigma, box -office, an edge of the seat style of player, my only worry , is without the ball..
Or maybe AP, will keep the money, after all he might need to recoup cash, from the early termination of player's contracts.

| chase has been poor the last couple of seasons so it would be a massive risk to take him irrespective of any behavioural issues. I'd rather stick with what we have

| Not disappointed to miss out on BJB but its a bit of a slap in the face when we lose out to wakey, the hdm says wakey paid a transfer fee,so if we wanted him why didnt we get him ? For me missing out on carney is much more of a disappointmen,it almost seems as though british based players dont want to come to us. COYH.

It also says that he was more likely to get his position of choice at Wakey which I think is FB and a better contract (maybe longer?)
I think we have made the right decision not to pay over the odds and wait and see who is available, might also give us a chance to see more of the likes of Lancaster and Naughton, who maybe like Logan will show they are ready.
On Wakey I agree with other posters that they are building a good little team, will be interesting to see how they go, personally not convinced by Smith, he has been out of the game for a few years and last season despite bringing a few players, didn't improve them too much and still hardly won a game against SL opposition and scarped past most of the championship teams. I guess we will see next season.

Bit harsh, thought he did a decent job to be fair, considering what he took over. Completed his goal, keeping them in super league

I think Webster would have done that, big test this year for Smith as they owner has really backed him with recruitment.

Definitely. Can't think of any other reason why he wouldn't want to join the dominant, all conquering Hull side. He's probably gonna miss out on a couple of Super League titles now.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I had us tagged for a good cup run and just maybe squeezing into the top 4. 2 Super League titles will do for me.

We might not be all conquering, but we miles ahead of Wakey and have just about finished above you every year in SL. If we wants to play in the middle 8's again and play against the likes of Sheffield and Halifax instead of the top teams, then that's up to him.
I would say the same if a player choose us over Leeds.

Would you say Ellis lacks ambition then?

I do wonder if he will look back on his move to Hull with slight regret.

over ambitious maybe, I think he believed like many of us, we are club that would be challenging. We've had some great players over the last few seasons that have probably thought the same
