I'm not disagreeing with that I was just trying to explain how his confidence will have been affected, maybe used the wrong wording to explain.
By the look of tonight it looks like the rest of the team may too have lost confidence in him which is a shame because we have seen glimpses of how good he can be.

| Quote: Kosh "Muse away - I'm just reporting what Gentle said.
Oh - and a fair few people on here were wanting Heremaia at SH until recently.
My take on it...
Gentle was undecided between Horne and Seymour to partner Holdsworth. On the strength of pre-season games he gave Seymour first crack and he had a poor game. So he gave Horne a crack and he did well enough to hold onto the shirt. With Holdsworth out he had a choice between Heremaia and Seymour. For whatever reason he decided that Seymour wasn't up to it and went with Heremaia. That didn't work out too well and we lost Heremaia's spark at hooker. So this week he decided to give Seymour another crack.
Sometimes life just sucks.'"
Spot on and we saw that he isnt upto it at all, it's not like every man and his dog doesnt know we are desperate for 7. Why was the performance like last season, because WE HAVN'T GOT A 7
Think people can get it now, yes Pearson maybe was wrong saying he was out an going last season and it's not like we didnt try to get a top 7 in the close season bu when it failed we went with Seymour, now he was given a clean slate and it was upto him to prove he was better than we were saying but he just hasnt done that.

| Nice witch hunt on Seymour, sorry but Gentle has brought this upon himself. I get that he isn't the man to bring us some flair/stability in the middle of the park but his treatment by fans and the coaching staff/owner has being nothing short of disgraceful.
He gets ripped by the owner, he gets dropped and an effective bollocking off the coach and told to sit on the naughty step to be shown how to play which after the Leeds game should have been half the team.
Yes Holdsworth & Horne are the combo to go with at the moment without a doubt but Gentle nailed Seymour to the mast by not picking him and playing Heremia in his place.
He's had one proper outing 4 weeks back and nowt since so if people were thinking he was going to be anything but a disaster tonight they don't understand people. After being left out previously when clearly Heremia was never the solution (we already knew this beforehand) and I reckon a misfiring but commited Seymour would have been better than a poor Heremia and a knackered Danny H anyway.
The guy may well have had 100 NRL games but he is a human being ffs, you don't think people get affected by stuff like what has happened to him, the same has happened to better.
Gentle has had difficult decisions to make but so far this season he has made more bad decisions than good IMHO, the way Seymour has been treated then expected to come back to lead the side around the middle of the park is the biggest of them.
I'm happy that Gentle is in charge, he's a solid bloke but he has made a critical error with regard to Seymour and effectively f@@ked him up the as I can't see him coming back from this much to the individual and clubs cost both financially and player rosta wise.

| without sticking up for seymore as i dont think he is gonna cut it here (for all ive stuck up for him) That set of six (where he throw that terrible pass b4 half time) That whole set of six was shocking. No runners, no angles everything was static.... One of the worst sets in an oponents 20 ive ever seen!
And........... thats the past 4 years all over again!

I was thinking similar last night.
Off memory, we went to the right, devoid af any ideas, came back left, and Seymours suicide ball was an act of desperation because we were so shockingly structureless.
To be fair, thought he'd done not too bad up to then.
Coulple of decent touches, nice quick ball to put Galea over and one really good man on man tackle.
Also don't think he'll play again and maybe for the best all round if he doesn't.

| Last night ws the first time I had my doubts about Gentle, got it all wrong and not for the first time this season.
Next week, Seymour, arundel and galea must be dropped, I'm not sure why people think galea had a good game as he was involved in two of their try's and made a massive error from the drop out, he just isn't dong nough to justify his place.
I've stuck up for Seymour, but hats it now, he should never pay for hull again, I'd rather play jordan Abdul or another young kid in front of him.
Arundal looks awful, not sure if it's because of his injuries, but he looks no where near SL quality, missed 7 tackles in his first game and only added to hat last night.
We must be the worst team in the league at handling high kicks, do we practice, every time the ball goes up I know we won't get it.
We haven't forced a repeat set for two games, were had our offload game gone?
Gentles substitutions are poor, we always look better with whiting, who should have been put on hock, but he only plays about 40 minutes while galea and Westerman pay the full game, although I though Westerman had a decent game.
Lots of work for gentle to do.

| Can't believe all the bleeding heart posts about how poor Brett has been picked on by that nasty Mr Gentle. He's a professional sportsman being paid very well to do a job he isn't up to. Gentle didn't decide to victimise him over one poor game - he was rubbish for the majority of last season. That's how professional sport works: you do your job or you're left out of the side. How you respond to that dictates how good a professional you are, and Seymour's response simply hasn't been good enough.

I don'tthing Gentle will dare pick him again.
Some might start wondering if our head coach really knows what he's doing.

| People bleating about how badly poor old Brett has been treated need to give their heads a bang. Ordinary folk get treated way worse every single day of the week and [istill[/i manage to put in a professional job at work. For far less reward.

| Not worried for Seymour but there's little doubt that the situation , difficult though it is , has been poorly managed. Gentle must have made his mind up early that Seymour was second string at best this year because he didn't give him any time in pre season games with Holdsworth apart from perhaps 15 minutes in the second half at against KR. I think he should have played Seymour and Holdsworth in those 3 games to try to get a combination and give Seymour some confidence. Horne should have been plan B. Or he should have showed him the door. It's pretty clear he's become a divisive issue now and looks to be disrupting any unity we had.

| For those blaming the owner/coach/anyone else other than Seymour for 'ruining his confidence' I think you need to remember the order of events and ask yourselves why he was criticised in the first place.

Lets grow up and stop playing the blame game on all sides.
Last night was pathetically inept.
It was a deja vu job from the season before.
Playing and coaching staff have to take responsibilty and try not to give us a serving of that shoite again this year.
