That's not how I interpret that quote, and it makes no sense at all when you consider that when the player transfers to his new club his salary cap value is his wages for the entire year regardless of when he joins. In that case you would have him counting on the cap at two different clubs.
There's also no mention in the rules whatsoever of a First Tier player only counting on the cap once he's played a game - in fact it specifically rules it out. The top 25 SC players count on the cap from the start of the SC year (1st December) whether they play a game or not. It's only the Second Tier players that have to play in a Salary cap Relevant match before they get added to the total cap liability. |

That's how I read it. The payment effectively replaces his salary for the remainder of his contract - which is the day he leaves. Once he's gone that's it.
In fact earlier on in the rules it actually says that the SC value of a player as agreed at the start of his contract is what counts and not how much money he actually receives, so I'd read that as saying that the termination payment doesn't count at all.
No wonder clubs have problems with this.  |
