| Quote: PAUL M "Its a tough call. Calderwood/Raynor would be the expected wingers so in some ways I can see Raynor getting straight in. However Briscoe does not deserve to be dropped. One option would be to play Briscoe at centre instead of Horne but I for me it will prove a much harder position for him to play, especially defensively as it proved the other day when Mogg skipped round him.
The other factor is Briscoe might need resting at some stage, playing him every week won't be good for him imo.'"
If Halls at full back i would have no issues with Briscoe, Horne and Whiting sharing the right centre spot. (in that order of preference)

I don't dispute the fact that he may need a rest. But I do dispute the idea of just putting him in the centres just because it is deemed Raynor should automatically put back into the team. It's the same with Hall and the fullback spot and when Tony comes back. But its a few games too early to start that debate properly

Tony and Raynor will both come back into the team provided they are fit and training well.
Briscoe could well even take Calderwood's place if MC is not performing to his best. Once Raynor is back then form will dictate who plays where.

Usually I would agree about Tony as its obvious I really rate him. But if Hall has some stormers, scoring tries to the standard of last year, and gets hattricks again, then I would be all for him keeping the spot. If Raynor was back for Friday I wouldn't select him due to Briscoes form and the fact that having him instead of Calderwood wouldn't change anything due to the current tactics employed

Raynor's dummy half running is better than MC's.
The thing is we can debate it all day but its about what they do in training aswell as match days that count. The good thing is we have options, unless by the time Raynor/Tony come back we have picked up any injuries then it will make RA decision easier.

Was thinking that myself!
His go forward and leg drive in the tackle is amazing for someone his age, but his defensive positioning at the moment could be improved whereas this has been one of Raynors strong points. To say Raynor has been poor the last couple of seasons is wrong, he has been one of the better performers despite very limited ball!

Agree, he is still the best British winger and should walk back into our side. He brings so much to our team i cant even believe there is a debate about him tbh.

Its no disgrace for Adam Mogg to have the better of you, especially when you are still learning your trade.
I see there has been no mention of the certain try Briscoe saved when he managed to strip the ball from the attacker when actually over our try line.

The Briscoe try save has been mentioned, it was superb play.
I am not saying its a disgrace to have Mogg skip around you but what I am saying is defending at centre is one of the hardest places to defend and imo people wanting Briscoe to be moved to centre need to think about this, he needs time to learn the position. Does he have the ability to think like a centre in attacking terms?
Right now he looks like a very good winger who could go on to play centre. I am not saying don't play him there but lets just be careful with him.

| As i said yesterday Mogg skipped easily past Richard Horne on Friday so you cant hold that against Briscoe.
Other than that we have not really seen him defend at centre so can't really judge.
And no doubt many of us will highlight Yeamo's debut when Gleeson gave him the run around. Got to learn some time

I am quite sure that the highest earners will all retain there places in the side. Briscoe and Hall will be replaced if the other two are fit, irrespective of form IMO. For what it's worth, I'd have Briscoe take Calderwoods place and I'd keep Hall at fullback until he has a nightmare (if he does).

| I think it would be a harsh call to drop Calderwood. I was never his biggest fan before he signed for us, but so far he's done everything expected of him. The fact that he's had about 2 passes in the first three games combined is hardly his fault.

Totally agree. Calderwood and Raynor are still our first choice wingers. Briscoe can move inside to centre or wait for another chance.

Indeed.
And he scored from one of them.
