The fans that go in there every other week enjoy the high up view. You get a great picture of plays forming and get a much better understanding of how teams play. Don't know why you have a downer on it I've watched many an academy game from there and never had a problem with the view or facilities. Granted it could be wider which would improve it massively but it isn't shocking.

Restricted view seat?
Is that like the box with iron girders in the windows?

| I've been on the south terrace once. My problem with it isn't so much the distance from the pitch, it's the fact it's so low to the ground. You can't see the in goal area at that end because of the advertising hoardings. If Rovers sort that end out then it's a decent little ground.
I don't mind going to the old, run down, grounds, Cas, Wakey, lots of the championship clubs. They are often some of my favourite trips, and I can't argue that they are nicer grounds than CP, because they aren't, they are dives. However, and I'm not saying this just to get a bite. Craven Park always strikes me as a bit soulless. I don't know if it's because there's no history there, or because until now it's been wide open at the ends, but I just never get that feeling of community like at the other small grounds.
And before anyone bites, yes the KC is soulless too, but we have nice toilets.

Totally agree, ground was built in the incorrect areas, pain to get too and not enough decent pubs around it.

Both grounds facilities in those days were no where near the standards of today but you rarely heard people saying.... I'm not going to this or that sh..t hole, such was the fanatical passion of both sets of supporters .
I cannot understand any fan of either side who say they wont go to either of the two grounds on the basis that it puts money in the others coffers or the ground is cr..p etc etc.
In my opinion, anyone who comes out with such excuses is either a part time supporter or a soft pussy wussy .
Its a slightly rose tinted retrospective view you have. I started watching Hull FC in 1981. The derbies then were very much packed to the rafters at the Boulevard with gates of 18k-20k on a number of occasions. I can recall a couple of games at the real craven park of 16k (capacity at the time).
This level of attendance significantly dropped off after 1984.

| Our pack will be too big and strong for them and we'll get a roll on for Rankin & Miller to exploit, get on top early and keep the East terrace chavs quite I can see a comfortably win.

| Quote: Jake the Peg "Surely you mean the tote end?
Place was a sheethole but infinitely better than the current caravan park for watching a game.
Biggest difference now is the fans are in separate stands whereas in the good old days you could mix. I remember watching derbies in the "popular" stand at the old CP and in the east stand at the current one. Much better atmosphere'"
Yes I did mean the Tote end, not sure why I put toke, but hey ho I'll alive with it.
I disagree with you saying that the old Craven park was better than the new one, especially given the fact that the new North stand is in place.
The one aspect That I perhaps would agree on is that the atmosphere at the old Craven park seemed better than the current one, I believe this was perhaps due to the old East stand in particular been much shallower than the current one and more compact, you sometimes couldn't get a matchstick between bodies on big match days, this could be part reason for the better atmosphere imo.
However, the elevation in the old East stand was poor and no where near as good as the new one so the new stand wins hands down on that aspect, plus the facilities were not very good then, you couldn't even get a beer or a sandwich after a certain time in the bars and you certainly were not allowed to take a beer on to the stands.
The old Boulevard was much the same, it was quite shallow and very compact with a much better atmosphere than the current Kc, even though you get far more people in one of the Kc stands
Both main stands were also closer to the touchline's than they currently are, it was probably the main reason why away teams hated coming to either the Boulevard or the old Craven park, they were so intimidating places to play.

Should work that way, but you just never know.
Looking at their team, i cant see were there threat is going to come from, looks a solid but unspectacular team, reminds be of us under Agar. As long our discipline is right and our error count low, I think we will win, with our pack being too strong for them.
