| Quote hullbg="hullbg"I reckon a large number of Aussies and Kiwis living and working in London would beg to differ. It was one of the reasons that it was decided to have it in London as NZ/Aus/Eng are expected to feature so as well as getting the general RL public to go watch they will also have the chance of enticing some of the EXPAT community to the game.
I am not an advocate of International RL but I think they have chosen the right venue for the Semi Finals.'"
Big time, not often it deserves to be said, but the RFL have got this one right.
The Four Nations games a couple of years ago attracted 40k+, so they've used that as an indicator as to the appetite for International RL in London, they've not just plonked it there & hoped for the best.
Verbal brings up a valid point in the cost of getting down there, that's fair enough, not every can afford to do so. BUT, there are 20-odd other games in or near the heartlands to go to, including three in our city.

Get a grip the people from hull have been well and truly snubbed with this World Cup. I think it's about time we have the Aussie back at the kc last time was a fantastic night packed out . They gives us a England game to try and make up for this but it's just a slap in the face for a well supported rugby city.

How is it a slap in the face, will be double the KC capacity at the game.

I just can't see how anyone could be happy with the games we have been given.
To not have Australia or NZ playing a game in hull just wrong iny opinion. I think with past international have been supported well in the city so they will just give us any old game and expect us to turn up.

WOW. Is it the same bit of woodwork you lot keep crawling out of?
England vs Australia is being played as the Opening Game at the Millenium. It's likely to attract in excess of 50,000 (which is what Standee is eluding to). Why on Earth would the KC be given this game when demand is way in excess of the KC's capacity? That doesn't make sense.
Hull have been given THREE World Cup games. That's more than any other host city.
One of those games is an England game versus some very good opposition in Fiji (who finished fourth in 2008) boasting some world class players. Out of all the group games (barring the opener), this one has arguably the highest profile and will be a bloody good game.

The quarter-finals are harder to sell as there's no guarantee of who's playing. This is why Wigan have been given a quarter as their only game in the WC.
Wales are likely to feature in the Wrexham game.
Warrington is a smaller venue for what is likely to be a game not involving the big three.
Leeds have two games, likely to be NZ in the quarter. They're trying to sell Leeds as the HQ for NZ and build a following there.
Makes sense when you think about it. Some are just moaning for the sake of it.

So do you not think we deserve Oz or NZ playing in Hull because either Leeds Wigan wire or Wrexham will be getting them in a quater final.
I really think the RL supporters in Hull deserve the chance to see at least one of the best sides in the world playing playing in the city this year.

What do you mean by 'deserve'?
You'd rather see Australia play a dead rubber against Ireland (for instance) than the host nation (& third best team in the world) against the fourth best in the world?
The tri-nations/4-nations games played at the KC all involved England/GB and were close to sell out, that is why the KC was given an England games.
In the 2000 World Cup, Australia played at the Boulevard. Just 3,000 people went.

| The rfl's decision to play at Cardiff and Wembley has been justified by ticket sales of 50k+ for each game so far.
For anyone struggling for transport for Wembley...try looking for travelodges on the outskirts of london or off the A1 or M1, some bargain £30-40 rooms to be had, and you can get cheap trains in to london from the commuter towns.
