On the contrary someone like Rich to take the line on and play at the line instead of putting set plays on 8-10m in front of Wakefield's line before dropping it like DJ did would have done wonders IMO.

Gentle sounded like he doesn't have a care in the world from his post match interview.

We look poorly prepped and have been out enthused by team we should be beating comfortably in 4 of the last 5 games. gentle needs to take a long hard look in the mirror and sort it out

I was pretty disappointed with his interview as well. I totally agree that individual and team stuff should be kept within the team confines but we're back to a bunch of strangers with the backs in particular finding it hard to string two decent passes together without error. Round 20 isn't the time to be looking like pre season regardless of new/returning players coming in. There is effort from the majority but intensity and individual pride in performance is severely lacking.

having seen both hull teams this week find that rovers make a mistake all the players are round picking the player up .......hull today player made a mistake and other players went ape at it .....(watch the penelty in firat half for obstruction when westerman went throught the line and miller ran behind him ....weterman went barmy at him)

He said we were diabolical. Don't really understand what we can say? He's not going to slate and embarrass his side live on radio, he's smarter than that. I'm pretty sure he won't come across as calm and nice guy behind closed doors.

I think if anything tonight we've seen that gentles idea of a mobile pack simply isnt working.We need a couple of rough d props that can break the line and mix it with the best of em,nobody tonight did that and once again were out enthused by a mediocre set of players.

Thing is, it was working a month ago. Squad and ability is not the problem, attitude and consistency is.

to many players beleiveing there own hype IMO.....
take o'meley and houghton out of our pack at the minute and were poor to say the least....
too inconsistant, and when you think teams on a limited budget in cas, wakey, hkr are all sniffing around us for a play-off birth, its an embarrassment..
if or when saints step it up a notch, we could quite easily be in 8th place......

It's almost like 'we were cr@p' deal with it.
I don't particularly want him ranting and raving but it would be nice to know he was peeved with another poor showing and that it's gonna be addressed

Thing is it's not gonna be addressed. Other than the odd game, last night is pretty symptomatic of the last season and a half under gentle. My measure of a good coach/manager is that he gets the players he has playing at near their best on a regular basis and gentle hasn't done that consistently since he took over.

Last season he had a lot to contend with and did well in shifting some rubbish on. This season he has pretty much his own squad and we look devoid of ideas, lack leadership and direction on the field, our defensive line speed is poor, we lack aggression in attack and defence and the players look like they don't even see each other between games.

I desperately want gently to succeed, but as the weeks go on and we see the same garbage being dished up, you have to start questioning whether he can actually do anything about it. Coaching is more than just getting the best players you can and throwing them together on the pitch each week

I think our lack of size is a factor in that, though. I said in another post that with our relatively small forwards we need them to be at maximum enthusiasm/attitude/whatever you want to call it to match the opposition. As soon as it drops even a little bit we're steamrollered as we simply don't have the muscle to fall back on.
