If you think what I posted counts as vitriol you have a poor understanding of the word.
It was an interview on Sports Talk. I guess you could hear it again on iPlayer. To summarise:
Shaul has had just 2 weeks of training since the injury that kept him out for all but the first York game this season.
While he had a very good debut you have to be careful how you handle youngsters.
McDonnell was playing very well and 'did nothing wrong' before his injury.
The players vote for a Player of the Month. McDonnell won the first two. Horne won the third BTW.
In short, McDonnell is the better player right now and was in good enough form prior to his injury to justify selection ahead of a talented youngster with only two weeks of training and one SL game under his belt. But if McDonnell isn't 100% fit then Gentle has no qualms about Shaul stepping in again.
