prob Rising Damp or Only Fools 5th - actually it is only fools, the "Cwying" episode alone seals the deal

| Wonder how many of our chosen programmes would make us laugh now. Some things are just not as funny when you watch them years later - thinking particularly about The Young Ones, On The Buses, Love Thy Neighbour etc.

Agree. When i first started watching Only fools and horses and saw the episodes with the blow up dolls and Margate i could not stop laughing but when i watch them now i still find them funny but not as funny as when i first saw them.

That has aged particularly bady. Think it depends on the show, Porridge and the like are still superb. May be a bit heretic, but I don't think Fawlty Towers is all that good years after the event either.

| The Young Ones is terrible now. I remember watching universally challenged at the time and was in pain laughing that much. Watching it recently it was still painful but for different reasons

It certainly was. Then Peter Kaye's ego took over.
My favourites are
Blackadder (every series, Blackadder II being the best)
Rising Damp
Porridge
Fawlty Towers
Father Ted
Citizen Smith
Dear John
The Young Ones
Only Fools and Horses (before Raquel and Cassandra joined the cast)
Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?
Red Dwarf (Up to series 6)
Steptoe and Son

Would be mine, with honourable mentions for Yes Minister/Prime Minister, 1st 3 series of Coupling, and Black Books.
