This is a constant subject on most of there boards so in all honestly what would you rather have.
A profittable club that seems from the outside to go 'cheap' on the top guy almost everytime or a club living above their means but bringing a certain amount of success (Warrington, Wigan, Hudds, Saints) etc,etc
Also would you give up your 'A' classification if it meant you were better on the field.
BTW those wanting to turn this into a bun fight please don't bother im actually curious to see what you guys think on this subject.
My opinion is that there is obvious pros and cons for both arguements but it depends if you look long term or shorter term.'"
Short term - Win Silverware (possibly, Obviously that plan didn't help Wakey or Crusaders)
Long Term - Possibly don't have a club. (See Wakey & Crusaders)
Is it really a hard question to answer?

If the team plays well and continues to improve then the fans come, if the clubs continues to be poor fans aint gonna carry on going and wasting money, bit of a vicious circle wudn't you say..............'" I did ask for this NOT to become a bun fight you know

Long term- Probably secure (see Hull FC)
Short term- Furious, unhappy fans seeking a boycott (see Hull FC)
Not such a clear choice.

the Same FC that had to merge to remain in existence (rovers fans mention it occasionally you know). Nah, not really a hard choice tbh. Live within your means and play the long game, The frustrating this is, as others have said, the cash is obviously there to spend on a decent coach at the moment, it would pay for itsself in no time atall, so I really can't get my head round why the board won't do that.

Great question!
Easy answer, as one of the biggest clubs in Super League with the best facilities, strong supporter base we can have both. The only issue is the lack of ambition at the moment. We need one person to come in ruffle the feathers in the boardroom and lead from the top.
Once this is done we can have both!!
Here's a question for you, Hull FC have looked at Wakey and managed to grab a "42inch TV for £100" what did you guys see? Potential situation for Rovers in the next few years? Your chairman said you needed 10kplus to break even last year, you managed just over 8k and continue to splash the cash.

What did you expect, most of the KR posters are incapable of answering a question or having a debate as can be seen throughout our threads, your board now resembles the comments section on the HDM site.

Ok seems folks think this is a dig at Hull FC which it isn't so I'll ask another question which may explain it better.
Who would you rather be.
Castleford-Breaking even but little chance of winning anything.
Or
Warrington-Backed by a money man and the winner of the CC for the last 2 years.

Prefered your original question tbh..
RIght we don't have the 'money man', but we do have the fan base.
Given ppl on here (myself included) don't mind paying money into the club.. ie merchandise, gate prices, season passes etc, the money the fans provided go a long way to the club being in the stable position it is..
So, given the choice of say a £1 increase to home shirts, gate prices and passes, along with agars wage and any profits made yearly should in fact not alter our financial stability much..
If the board was to give the fans this option in return for a decent coach who probably bring the level of rugby we desire then how many of us would say no???..
Say on average £10 quid extra a season for entertainment or.... stay as we are and just complain that its just ..

| potentially this club could be huge all it would take is for the club to invest money on a top coach and a spend the full cap wisely such as teams like wigan, wire, saints and leeds and thats why they are the top 4. we all know about the the off the field things with which is great dont get me wrong but its becoming abit boring now and like i say potentially this club could get regualar 16 plus thousand every week making shed loads of money and been a top super league team but the club will always hold back and put in place a cheap coach

| I just want to be entertained, we all spend a lot to follow FC home and away. After all, the club only exists due to the money we put in.
As Kosh put it though, we should be able to have both. We only need a coach. Financial stability IMO is the hardest thing to achieve, but once that's in place, there should be no excuse on the field. We should be successful.
Rovers are a shining light in what they have achieved in Superleague. THey have a fan as a chairman, a good coach who seems to know the game. Not world beaters but improving. My only doubt as a rovers fan would be what might happen to the club in the long term, as financially, they are not that sound. However, short term, I would be loving it, and loving watching FC play dire one man rugby.

| People need to understand this isn't a money issue, it's a control issue. The club would spend on a coach but wouldn't accept one who wanted to run things his own way. Was the main reason that mcrae left. they want a YES man and have one. A decent coach wouldn't work under those circumstances. macnamara will be our coach after agar as he fits the requirement

| I've been a little unfair I guess your question is would we prefer a board that looks after the penny's and builds a sound future for our great club or a board with more money than sense who can throw cash at the problem?
The board have done a great job securing the future of the club, building from a solid fan base and income streams. However, now we need a set up to put transfer this hard work into on-field success spending money where it is needed starting with a world class (not on the cap) coach. I think the board are being too loyal and need to put Hull FC first.
