I'll not be going again in 2013 until I see a massive improvement in the way the team plays. I just cannot afford to pay to watch crap. If Seymour pulls on a Hull shirt again I may have to kick my dog!

| Gentle's post-match interview podcast now on BBC website if anyone fancies a listen.
He sounds to me to be not only very miffed but also puzzled as to why we "seem to be going backwards" as he puts it.
Personally, I think that his recruitment is looking very average in parts and pretty poor in others. Add this to the on-going Seymour/half back problem, should we really be that surprised?

hopefully a big aggressive forward in the style of sam moa, we're a soft touch, easily beaten in the pack, look at most teams in the league, they all have at least one player of that style, we dont have any! biggest mistake was not replacing sam!'"
Bang on the money!!!! I've said for the last few months that I don't think we are big enough in the pack and have no forwards who will mix it and play with any real aggression.

| I don't think a change of coach will make a difference. Without a decent half back partnership, this side will never challenge the top 4.
That said, I'm concerned Peter Gentle has done a "Peter Sharpe" in that he's recruited poorly after a fairly good season.
Seymour won't get picked again. I think they'd pick Mark O'Meley at 7 before Seymour now! Arundel is looking like a bogey signing. Galea was just baffling. So many better options if you look at who other clubs had signed. Impressed with McDonnell despite being underwhelmed with his signature. Holdsworth is doing a good job for us as well.
Just think what could have been if we'd have gotten Prince. Devastated.

| no change of coach would help this squad we desperately need a 7 and until that day comes we wont see a top 4 or any silverware what we also need is someone to add a bit of flair in the forwards and i think watts gives you a bit more with his offloads so glad hes back but until gentle gets the final piece of the jigsaw we will be slow and predictable and struggle against teams who have a fast play the ball something we cant seem to do the forwards need to fight a lot harder to get up and play the ball and get some aggression in them even lynch looks poor this year

| Quote: Sheldon "We have replaced Moa, Manu and Turner.
We've also "upgraded" a few positions, McDonnell for McKinnon, Crookes for Sharp, Holdsworth for Ellis ect and signed some of our younger stars to longer deals.
Don't get me wrong our performances haven't been good enough but people are looking for problems that aren't there.'"
Good post, we weren't that far off being half decent at times in 1st 4 games, showed signs within them that we could be a dangerous attacking team and showed some decent defence too.
Last night was a massive step back.
Also though it highlighted the frailties within the team, how a few can have a bad game and were stuffed because we don't have enough game changers.
People calling gentle n how he should drop galea, n some of his favourites, but fans guilty of it too.
What about fans golden boys? Whiting? Doing some good tacking-wow
And Danny H?!!!-poor, or well down on his high standards in most games barring wire.
Not saying drop them but each week a few are being picked out n others getting away with it.
I'd play crooks and crooks watts green holdsworth at weekend, and Galea whiting Arundel yeaman Seymour would make way, I'd give Aaron H start at 9 and longer mins in that position only and simplify Houghtons job when he comes on-run at em -stop this trying to be a pivot/organizer, this is possibly gentle s doing but either way Danny is well off in all aspects of his game right now.
Next week I'd simplify everything,5drives kick, dummy half running go forward 1st n earn right to get fancy later, get some enthusiasm in with young lads and drop some big names so get people looking over their shoulders.
I've been positive over 1st weeks and believe I can see something but must admit last night was a shock n worry.
Also read something today from Craig Murdock on Twitter. He just threw out an idea that maybe our troubles come from not having the right players to suit the style of play gentle wants and should maybe be prepared to work to the strengths of players we have? Don't buy that myself though.
I hope Adam Pearson has been busy on the phone today n upping his efforts for a half because this 7situation is getting ludicrous.

| I can see why last nights perfomance has brought about all this response and if i'm honest even I'm worried. Lack of commitment, ability and awareness all over the park. When things are going wrong you need a leader. We have none. Houghton is not a captain, Lynch looks like his soul has been ripped out, Seymour looks....... well just Seymour. The team is clueless, no variation, and most of all no ability. Players need to be together to pull things round and all we seem to do is push things intead of doing the basics right like holding on to the ball. Things have to change and quick, it's like being in groundhog day, and it's now getting a bit boring, (just like the film). It must start from the top, Gentle give them back some heart and passion, Admit you made a mistake and install Lynch back as captain. Put Westerman back at six until Holdsworth is fit, send Seymour home his head is fooked, Drop Yeaman put Briscoe at centre if Crookes is fit. We have enough second rowers to let Galea have a rest for fook sake. We know it's his last year but he doesn't have to play 80 minutes to make up for it.

agree with all of that, it'd be controversial but anything is worth a try. Players like Yeaman can't be picked on name and past glories, its been a long-time since he had a top game (probably last years Good Friday derby)

Outside of Arundel and Galea I'd say we recruited just about as well as we were able to. People keep banging on about a 7 and a big prop, but we tried to sign both and failed. That's not down to Gentle.
Bear in mind that his two key signings were Holdsworth and Ellis. Neither played last night. Shows how much we need them.

Any 7 would have been better than retaining Seymour. We've signed a poor second row, an unproven centre and no 7. That's quite a bit disappointing in recruitment.

Hull will give us a tough game but the key is to silence their fans in the Threepenny Stand. We have to do this because if we do'nt they will get behind their side and lift them in a way you've never seen, heard or witnessed before.

I think the words our coach used was bigger, faster, stronger.
I have seen no evidence of these attributes yet.

Personally, I think he is missing the point entirely.
The one and only reason we are so far behind our potential at this club, is because of the last regime.

Can't keep blaming the old regime though, its been 18months since Pearson's takeover, half the players have left, the vast majority of the backroom staff have left, things should be clicking in to place by now, but instead we could have gone back in a time machine to 2011.

I already dealt with Arundel and Galea. Bad choices both IMO. Maybe Arundel will come good in time.
There were no scrum halves available by the time we missed out on our primary targets. Maybe we should have aimed for lower quality to start with?
