As we all know half backs don't mature till mid 20's so even if we do keep him and have him as back up(dual contract maybe) I still think they'd be another player brought in at 7 from longs retirement till willams is ready.

Weren't McGuire, Burrow, Tomkins, Eastmond, Robinson and Horne (off the top of my head) all playing regular first team football in their late teens?

yes.

Not to mention Shaun Edwards too. But these are exceptional players. We don't know how good this lad is.

I would be tempted to give him a bench spot against a lower team at home and maybe give him 20 minutes if we are winning easy.

My point is not when he can make his debut but when he can lead a side from first receiver. Burrow still can't, Robinson has only started playing consistant effective first recevier play in the past 2 seasons, eastmonds going to get better when he can dictate play hes a freak already.

The rest are irrelevent as they play a different position.

And Edwards played in a very dominate side.

Only highlights this year due to location, he has looked very good in these games, has a great attacking game, is quick and good passing game.

Watched him quite a bit last year, and watched him a few times at school level and for Skirlaugh.

Eastmond wasn't, no.

How old was he when he debuted?

The only thing I have seen of him is the clips on FCTV. He looks promising but isn't even full time training properley yet and I would not want to expose him too soon. Plus if he plays it would mean we must have awful injuries so hopefully he won't be called upon.

From what I understand he seems to be doing very and has a good kicking game too, I hope these sessions with Long really add to his development.

In the NRL halbacks generally develop later then here, and I think the only player playing at 7 over here would play week in and week out at 7 in the NRL and run the game from first reciever is Orford and he is an Aussie himself, the closest British option would be Brough in my opinion, the players mention above all played at a young age but that was becuase of there abilities at taking the line on, speed, footwork, try scoring abilities etc rather then exceptional kicking games and being able to move the side around the field.

I havent seen enough of the kid to say if he is the real deal or not, but just becuase he is not ready to play super league at 18 or even 19 dosnt mean he cant make a top class halfback.
