| Fo think the comparisons to last season are fair, Cartwright have had everything against them (except full salary cap) to get this team competing. Probably one of the hardest teams to recruit for last year, who would want to join Hull around May last year.
Also having, Holmes, Lane and Cartwright (even one of them) would not only strengthen the back row, but also allow Hardraker back into the centres.
I'm not having our performances are at Hodgson level either.
As people git a bit carried away with our Starr, think people are going over the top about our recent form (except Magic, even then, with more luck we would have won).
Leeds are a decent side and well coached.
Honestly think Hall is the only winger in SL who would have scored that try.

| Good to see the improved discipline last night. No cards for a change and just two penalties.

| Competitive as we were, gutting to concede 2 points late on.

| Even after 65 years of fretting and worrying my way through any game my team are involved in it was still as heartbreaking a way to end a game as ever. but it was a showing once again packed with endeavour guts and determination. Compared with the rest of the coaches we have endured of late it's great to see Cartwright majoring on improving something (our discipline and penalty count) and actually getting his wards to do it!! Compared with last season it's a revelation although one that is not always appreciated, because some I think have very short memories of just how disappointing, demeaning and down right crap it was. But the biggest plus for me is that coach. I honestly believe culture, accountability and disciplinary influence wise he's light years ahead of what we've seen and most of the current coaches in Super league. confidence is now the biggest enemy as the defeats stack up but Lots to build on and despite the disappointment lots to be proud and optimistic about for me.

| I went last night and thought both teams were poor, Hull had no go forward with Ese Ese and Knight on but seem to come alive with Ashworth and Eseh on but they second pairing only seemed to play limited minutes together. Second row an obvious problem. I'd have Ashworth and Fash second row next game, put Hardaker back to centre in place of Litten who just isn't good enough yet. A few games in and I'm still not seeing what Pryce brings to the side and I feel like we're carrying him hoping he's gonna come good but ut isn't happening at, no coincidence that we've lost, shape, energy, defensive strength since Litten and Pryce started playing?
Lots of things need to improve quickly though but I don't seen it happening. I saw a bottom four side out there last night, I know thats where most had us finishing, Cartwright took the plaudits in the first few games and now needs to accept some critisim in that we don't look like we've worked on anything since the Huddersfield loss, same slow defence, same stupid mistakes.
Utterly disappointed but also a massive reality check, we're not top six material and will lose again more times this season than we win

| Probably needs to watch the gane back, I'd say two of our most dangerous players are Pryce and Litten.

Bit harsh to say we are as mediocre as under Hodgeon..... One more tackle and we would be 4 in the league .....I think people are expecting to much in a way ....Most had us in the bottom 3.....Yes we are in a bit of a losing run but way of from last year .... We are not good enough with the players we have to challenge the top 4/5.....Still think we might be around 6/7/8.....It's a building project on an upwards curve ......Let's get behind them ......
We finished 8th and 9th under Hodgson and that looks to be where we are heading again. My point was we can't keep saying 'oh well at least it wasn't a 60 point defeat like 2024' each week defeats are still defeats at the end of the day. It's not time for panic stations and I had us down to finish 8th anyway...just disappointed that the last two games were winnable but discipline (last week) and errors (this week) let us down. Also we are poor at home and have the bulk of our home games still to come.

| I'd rather keep Litten at centre than Chamberlain as we are using his height for high kicks. There was a moment in the 2nd half when he could have passed to Martin but didn't. Not sure Martin would have scored but there was space for him.
Thought we got better impact off the bench from Eseh and Ashworth (minus that offload) and they played longer minites than normal which was good to see.
Not to pick on Amir, which the ref seemed to be on his case all game, but Cust has made 2 clean breaks from dummy half and don't think Amir has. He can do the graft and hard work but still don't like that an FC coach opts to play our 9 for a full game. Balmforth isn't the finished article but having an interchange hooker (and spelling accordingly) could make a difference. With the second row we don't have much options atm but we do at 9.
Thought Leeds did a good job on Sezer but at least we aren't relying on him for a last tackle .
This felt a bit like our games against Wakefiled, Leigh and Huddersfield where it could have gone either way and where it went our way earlier this season but not so much now. A good reaction to the Huddersfield loss (Eseh in particular), Leigh will.be another tight game I imagine
