Last year was already one year too many for him. To give him another year was one of the worst bits of recruitment/retention that I have seen.
He has been an error and missed tackle machine since the start, but you could cope with that because he was such a strong ball carrier. Now he just offers nothing. In fact he borders on being a liability these days.

| Quote: Wilde 3 "His communication from the back was actually ok, numbers were correct in the line, it was inside defenders switching off, players like Thompson having no lateral movement. It was waiting as a defensive line for Warrington to attack us it was grabbing shirts.
Why people are talking about the difference in money spent is beyond me. Tonight wasn't about cash, tonight was about desire, passion, commitment, character, pride and those traits should come for free'"
Warrington are a top notch side, higher quality all round. It's one factor in a defeat of that magnitude as are the other factors you cite. Thompson is a back up second row playing starting centre against a top drawer three quarter line. He can be as passionate as he likes but has neither the skill nor pace to adequately fulfil the role he was asked to. Unfortunately.

No it isn't. You could have pulled 17 people from the crowd and paid them nothing and you would have got a more committed performance than what we saw tonight.
Warrington have a more talented squad than us, but tonight had nothing whatsoever to do with talent.

Don't be silly. Gulf in quality -> flurry of early scores - > heads go down - > blah blah blah. Saying we got owned had nothing to do with different squad quality is laughable. 3 of the top 7 Man of Steel points earners so far are from tonight's Warrington side. Maybe the fact they are really good was a factor on their win after all

We were simply diabolical tonight and haven’t in all honesty looked a decent side so far this season. Regardless of the opposition tonight what is alarming is the total lack of any sort of performance or pride from Hull FC tonight.
It’s not just the magnitude but the manner of the defeat that is concerning.
To be quite honest the way we played tonight we would have been beaten by anyone in SL and most likely a few teams in the championship.
Yes Warrington were very good and it was always going to be a tough ask but we were beaten before the game had started. Warrington didn’t even have to work hard tonight we gave them far to much time and space and helped them continually by giving up cheap ball by errors or penalties but what’s new. Our line speed is shocking and give up territory far too easily because of it.
Tonight had nothing to do with Warrington being far better we just didn’t or weren’t able to get up for the game and didn’t even put up a fight whatsoever.

So based on that logic, and the quality they have due to the money they spend compared to the rest of the SL, they will put 60 points on every team? Or, will other teams adopt tactics that negate their attacking rugby, I.e. move up in defence to give their players less space to work in? We hung back, all game. They had players running at static defenders and we wonder why they got round us, past us, through us so comfortably

| It’s certainly been a couple of record breaking years!
Wire may have money, but we’re in a salary cap sport. We shouldn’t be having record defeats inflicted on us.
It’s not Man City versus Crawley Town.
I find it a bit galling blaming the injuries again. Wasn’t our failed recruitment/ retention policy based on not having these problems again?
I’d say I’m fed up of hearing it, but I’m past caring now.

I doubt it, but they will be up there in the top 2 if they can field the squad they had tonight I would think. We have a mediocre squad and half a dozen injuries. I don't disagree with your points on our tactical inadequacies but as said before asking, for example, a back up back rower to play starting centre against a Top 2 three quarter line is asking for trouble even if he tries really really hard.

I think it's utter drivel to suggest that Warrington's quality differential had nothing to do with our heavy defeat.

If we had played to somewhere near our ability and ended up losing then you could point to a gulf in quality. The fact is that from minute one we looked like the last place we wanted to be was on that field. Right from Warrington's very first set we looked lazy and lacking in aggression. They could have sent the reserves and it wouldn't have mattered, they would have still battered us. Our attitude was abysmal, and pointing to things like spending power is just making excuses and ignoring what the real issues were/are.

For me it’s not so much that it was a heavy defeat but the manner of the defeat that is of concern. Regardless of the difference in Warringtons squad we were not even on the field tonight and that is inexcusable.
We can say how good Warrington were and how much better than us they are but the simple fact is that tonight’s performance was unacceptable from a Hull perspective.

You said the gap in quality wasn't a factor in tonight's result. My opinion is that the quality of personnel in the club and available tonight isn't good enough to match Warrington's. It's not making excuses or ignoring anything. Those are brutal facts. What the team available brought to the table was not acceptable either, clearly.

| Thought you where a BIG club... Just a thought...No your not!!! You over-rate yourselves and always have.
You are average. Sometimes have good days, sometimes have bad.
Will you go down? no you won,t. Will you win anything, probably not.
Do your supporters think you are a better than you are...yes you do.
Are you loyal when times are bad....Absolutely not!
Any kind of weather???? Not in a month of Sundays.
Only one or two teams win anything...this year it,s not you!
You are not as good as you think.
Would I like us both to be dominating the game...yes I would,(mainly us)but we are both way way off just now unfortunately.
It,s a pain in the arris supporting a team. is,nt it?
Suck it up and move on. We have had to do it too often.
Must admit I laughed when I saw your result though.
Peace to you my B and W contributors...It,s only a game....
Next Thursday might be your time to laugh...but it,s Leeds....I hope we KILLLLLLLLLL EM!
