It's a contributing factor to the nature of penalties he gave away. Laying on too long and a lazy arm high shot. He didn't give any penalties away in the opening 20 did he?

| Quote: garry brindley "In many ways I can see that it looks daft to be judging him on the first game of the season but it's because the same problems we had last year were so clearly still there (apart from the first 15 minutes). Totally static in attack, one-out rugby, no dummy runners, no supporting breaks, poor general technique, giving away daft penalties, poor edge defence, general lack of cohesion.... they are all hallmarks of Rich Agar's three years in charge so it's frustrating when you see he STILL hasn't been able to put it right.
Add to that the fact that last season ended with a spanking off our biggest rivals so we could reasonably hope to come out today hell-bent on putting the record straight... we looked like we were for 15 minutes and then rolled over and got spanked again.
It might only be one game of the season but it confirmed a lot of people's fears that they've held throughout Agar's time in charge.'"
maybe so but derbies are not a true reflection of what is happening within either FC or KR...Let us see what the next few games bring before the petitions start. Do not get me wrong I am not happy we have not signed a h/back, hooker cover but again this may happen over the next couple of weeks. I liked what I saw for the first 20 mins and I wonder if we can see and maintain that over the next few weeks.

Thought it was on the 20 minute mark, may be wrong. Even without the penalties though, he looked out of it and performed poorly from the 20 minute mark onwards.

Yes, he did. The first laying on with Dowes to give the penalty for their first try. Poor argument for giving away penalties IMHO.

Fitz was also involved. Regardless what you say, tiredness is no excuse for a player of his experience to give away penalties.

| I don't go with any of this first game of the season stuff, and lets give em a few games, we have played like that for months. Huddersfield Bradford Crusaders Rovers and even Cas have all improved in the closed season, some have even managed to sign some half backs we simply havn't changed at all it was all just same old same old. Another long season 'Down the middle' beckons!

| Very disappointing and I'm coming over to the Agar out side tbh
First 15 minutes we were on top, due in part to O'Meley and Radford making good ground and the backs capitalising on that. So both get subbed around the same time and we're starting again with Moa and Dowes. Why not leave one on and let them continue the way things were going?
Why did Fitz play the full 80 (although he may not have done, as I packed in watching with about 8 minutes to go). If anyone needs spelling it's him. Why have 4 forwards on the bench? Injury to a back means a wholesale reorganisation.
Why can't we cope when a team scores against us? We were comfortable then they scored and that was it.
Why play Briscoe at wing all last season and in the friendly at Cas, then put him in the centre today? In fact why play the friendlies at all? We don't seem to have benefitted, or used any of the good issues from those games. The comment was made in the commentary that we didn't seem to be fully match ready either.
Gutted to lose, especially to Rovers, but most teams I've seen this weekend would beat us now. No progress since 2009. Yes we had some good moves and scored some good tries, and yes some players performed well. But one good move and a try will not win us games, nor get us within cooee of a trophy.

Case closed then, wasn't good enough from Fitz to give away penalties, tiredness no excuse.
I thought we were playing very well in the first 15, then started losing discipline and allowing Rovers to play. They gained momentum and started to score through our poor and unorganised defence. We continued to give them the ball through holding on etc, giving them back to back sets in which they capitalised on. You can't score without the ball and we gave it away too easily. Started to look interested again in the last 5-10, but yet again too late in the day. I couldn't knock the effort of some of our players, but I am also angry at the cheap ball we gave away. We looked alright in attack and I think it would have been a different game completely if we kept our discipline.

An odd comment given that the one glimmer of light in the long dark tunnel of today's game was our improved attack.
Our discipline and defence is shocking. This is what will kill our season unless it's fixed pronto.

I'm finding it hard to come up with an argument against that. Only Salford and Wakefield I'd be confident against, and possibly Catalans although I didn't see all of that one.
