well, that was hard work just watching, should've been out of sight before wakey scored, turning down 8 kickable points in these conditions nearly came back to bite us on the bum, other than that i thought we completely controlled the game throughout but tried to over do it when close to their line, scoreline certainly flattered wakefield as they didn't look like breaking wind let alone a tackle throughout the game until mckinnons' error to let c0ckstayne in

The only thing McKinnon did wrong was the mistake of not kicking dead. Apart from this he was dominant and would have pushed Will Sharp for MOTM for me. The team were dull because of game plans but got the victory and should/could have had more were it not for , well say no more about that clown in the middle!!
We will come good and although it will be tough on Friday, I expect a steady development from this side, no problems.

was thatbefore their tenth birthdays! seriously what are you expecting this season? this season is a season of transition, possibly next too, rugby isn't like football where you can go out and buy success, the last board did serious damage to the club by not investing in the youth, we are virtually starting again from scratch

Quote: Sebasteeno "Tbh the weather has been against us today though that hasnt stopped Rovers or Wigan scoring a few points. Gentle maybe a fantasic coach but the signs for me are that he is out of his depth as a head coach though id love to be proved wrong in future rounds'"

Again, Rovers were playing against a much weaker defence than we were, and still scored less than Widnes were averaging conceding. I have no idea what the weather's been like in Wigan, but they are a much better side than us so I don't see why we should be measuring ourselves against them at this stage.

Gentle is talking a hell of a lot of simple sense in interviews and we are making some steps to improvement. Far too early to write him off based mainly on the scorelines and what you're hearing on the radio.

Quote: steve_norton "Sounds like I missed a great interview with Sharp. Our attack does seem disjointed but you can't judge it on todays game with the conditions.

Hull were in total control for nearly all of the game and should have closed it out. Mckinnon looks class but he is prone to the odd brainfart, lets hope thats his quota for the next few games.'"

Thought McKinnon had a real good game barring his brain fart for the Cockhead try. His break down the right wing was brilliant, again he just needed a bursting support runner and we would have scored off that.

I thought we were well in control until McKinnon's inexplicable cock up, but still look like we lack any cohesion in attack whatsoever.

We made easy yards and dominated field position, but lacked any real idea in the opposition 20. Obviously the conditions were a factor in that, but we'll need to learn to convert pressure into points if we're going to beat anyone decent.

Sharp was excellent and I thought Whiting well and truly proved those who said he couldn't defend in the middle of the park wrong.

No... Under 10's to Under 17/18's. Before open age, then I did my leg in so gave it up, biggest regret of my life.

I may have been a little judgmental, but what do you expect when we've had 4 years of it, and this season so far is how we finished last season, at least last season we was putting 40's 50's and 60's against the dross at the bottom of the table. I honestly cannot see past a season of struggle tbh. Defense ain't going to win us things/get us anywhere this season, we need attack, attack is the best form of defense, we should not need to have to defend constantly, good teams don't defend, they attack! and defend when they need too.

And how did Ellis go?'"

I thought Ellis did well. Decent distribution from dummy half, a few decent kicks (one absolute belter), and some good tackles as well. Should keep his place for next week IMO.

I hope more fans start to understand the idea that this season is a season of transition, and it will take time for success.

We seem to have a lot of fans who treat every victory as a signal to get their Grand Final tickets booked, and every defeat as a disaster that must lead to the coach being sacked...people need to realise that not only are we in transition, but SL is getting more and more competitive and we are going to have a few shock defeats (and hopefully some shock wins) along the way.

I've said all along that I am happy with a 6th-8th finish this year, so long as we show that we can't beat the big sides on the day (particularly in a CC/Playoff tie) make some good signings for 2013 and generally show we are building to reach the Top4 again.

Well, here we have it folks. World champs build success on defense, Australia build success on their defense, but we should scrap that idea and all will be well. Give P. Gentle a call and tell him, he might listen!
