| A good win against a decent side.
Goal kicking was horrendous and we should have being out of sight.
Poor defense out-wide so lot's of work to be done this week.
Whatever Radford said at half time worked.
Some excellent attacking play.

| Quote: Airlie Street "The spacing between 4/5 players on the flank was too close, if that's the case the try is alway going to go in on the wing. As a winger your play off your centre, Lineham kept close enough to prevent the try being scored on his inside, the fact there was such a huge gap on his outside is not his fault.
Are you suggesting he should have successfully defended the 15 yards of space on his own? Unless a player is quite obviously out of position or misses a simple tackle you cannot blame them for a try, defence is a team effort and just because he's the winger doesn't mean he should take the blame.
It was a great pass by Catalan, sometimes you just have to accept that, Lineham couldn't have prevented that on his own.'"
I'm suggesting he should have been moving in the right direction and remotely close to the play, in which case he would then have had a chance of preventing the try. What you're saying is right IF he had been sliding with his centre, but the bottom line is that he wasn't, and that made the gap so big.

Azza made a big difference when he was on the field and it is no surprise that we scored most of our points when he was on the field.'"
the defence was poor - mainly on the right hand side but i was more concerned about the way we gave them field position. we almost seemed to run through the book on the different ways to give them the ball in good position. we play smarter then we don't have to defend as many tackles in our own 20

The way we mess about at the play the ball is a concern.'"
Heremaia (with support from Rankin) turned the game IMO, & essentially won it in that middle spell.

I didn't think our right-hand side was up to that much overall, personally, and particularly in the first half. Horne didn't look at the races until the hour mark.

Horne missed a tackle or two and cost us the early try. Over the whole game the halves look OK we need to shore up some defensive issues but Horne/Rankin are the partnership in the driving seat.

| While we will undoubtedly have to improve a lot, at least the game was entertaining and the team tried hard in the 2nd half to improve on a mediocre first half. I'd rather see a game like that where we make some errors than a drab, dreary game where we try and bore the opposition to death.
Heremaia changed the game for me when he came on.

it was 10,100, a decent effort given the dreary weather, no away fans and being on TV. Exciting games like that will tempt people to come back, it is the dreary lifeless rugby of the last 5/6 years that have meant a lot of fans have drifted away.

| What an odd game!
Some terrible defending, some good tries, shocking goal kicking, a few cheap shot and lots of penalites. A game that had it all.
A win is a win but we definitely need to tighten out defense up for next week. Lineham seems to have taken over from Briscoe in wandering off his whitewash all the time. Anyone else think Lineham looks even bigger than last year?
I was impressed with Paea, did huge minutes and was everywhere. Feka didn't look half bad either, the true definition of an impact prop!

| Should have been dead and buried if we had a decent goal kicker but no doubt a gale force wind may not have helped!
Worried about the defending because although our attack was very good at times if we come up against any of the big guns they'll rip us apart all over the place and nullify our attack.
A win is a win though and i'm very happy to get the first 2 points of the season.

Sure I read in the HDM that Lineham has actually shed 7 kilos.
