Balmforth is such a confusing situation. He constantly appears too good for every level he plays at but the rumours are TS doesn’t rate him.



I agree he should be playing over Dwyer right now. I’d also give Stavely a run out over lane. The experience with do their development wonders

To be fair, it's a big step up and until recently I don't think he stood out for Newcastle, a few games at thar level will do him good.



Also depends if he is staying or going.

Smith not overly keen on Balmforth i've been told a few times. Be surprised if he is here next season.

I do know coaching staff at both Hull clubs and like you it is my understanding Balmforth will not be on Hull Fc's books in 2024. Shame really because i do think he will become a good SL player given time.

Just watched the GRM Sports highlights of the 18s against Saints on YT, and their starting props are massive compared to our forwards!

I watch alot of academy and reserves always seems the way, when was the last time a really big forward came out of either club, Taylor?

I saw highlights of Rovers Academy vs Wigan academy last season and it looked like under 16s vs under 21s.



Their wing cut in field at one point and was taller and broader than any of Rovers’ forwards.

Not reserves, but Jack Charles starts at stand off for England academy against France, this is some achievement considering he first year academy, for example his halfback partner Jack Sinfield is 18 months older.



Cobie Wainhouse also on the bench, good pick up from Bradford this season, Pete Riding seems good at casting our net further than Hull, with a few signing recently from other areas of the country.

Yeah highly rated is Charles - good prospect in the halves, as well as the Kemp twins.



Hopefully Harman and Sully in the Reserves can really push on too
