Quote: Mild Rover "There's very little doubt about how this will end now. But it being put out there before it is agreed (according to the story) suggests, possibly, an attempt to bring it to a head. Agreeing a payout in principle is not quite the same as settling on the terms. It'll be resolved soon, I'm sure, but maybe Miller is digging his heels in a bit. Or the club is, depending on your POV.'"

Miller has a contract which he is willing to honour, its the club which wants to end it early therefore its up to the club to make an offer which is acceptable to him.

Quote: Standee "not biting, ridiculing, there's a difference.

anyway, Miller is gone, we finished 11th and it was all Gentle and McRae's fault. apparently I have to say that otherwise people will get upset.'"

If I can be serious for a minute, my biggest criticism of you is that you completely refuse to recognise the part that the mess Bomber & Gentle played in what happened this year. Radford is by no way completely innocent, a couple of games were especially poor, the two Wigan games come to mind. I also didn't think the way he spoke after the Widnes game did him any favours either.

I'm genuinely optimistic for next year, for a few reasons. The batch of youngsters being brought through, finally addressing recruitment in the area most needed (halves) and despite 2 or 3 performances (down considerably on recent years) we're actually competing and showing consistent effort.

If that makes me a (insert Standee buzzword here) then so be it.

Depends on the offer. I guess he'd be moving on/back to Aussie reserve grade. If Hull didn't make up a big chunk of the difference in wages, he might be better off staying put. I assume they will, given this story, it's just a question of how big is big enough?

Similar to when Sandercock tried to move on Lovegrove last year. There's sometimes a case for sitting tight. Couple of injuries or a change of coach, a lot can change quickly in RL.

Lovegrove stayed another year and Miller will almost certainly go, but it'll have to be worth his while.

We have shown consistency of effort but when it comes to quality and results we are as inconsistent as ever.

I'm also optimistic for next season and think we have recruited well. I agree that McRae and Gentle are partly to blame for our predicament I don't think that explanation will hold water if we have another poor season next year.

I've never said Bomber and Gentle have no criticism to face, I agree, but Pearson signed off those deals. Have we addressed the halves, Pryce is old and Snyed went missing for Castleford when it mattered.

What annoys me is people saying Lee is some kind of great coach, he's achieved nothing on the field as a coach in the big time. We shall see what next season brings.

I agree completely, hopefully having a consistent, quality halfback partnership will make the difference in the quality and results department.
I only see Arundel as a problem (assuming the Miller situation is resolved) so certainly not enough to warrant use as an excuse.

Will be an interesting first 10 games.

I'm not sure anyone has said Lee's a great coach, I certainly haven't. I also think your criticism of Sneyd is harsh, their superstar Clark was no better after Wembley and in fact the whole team were pretty pants after it.

Aye, the counterpoint that was made when we were discussing Lovegrove's options for him last season on our board was that you don't want to be sat in the stands being forgotten about. That's especially true for a young player. The sooner he can do something to start rebuilding his reputation the better.

Classic.

Anyway, quotes from people who've said Lee is "some kind of great coach". Have you found any yet?
