graham had a good spell at hudds n it improved him. 20k a yr when he was there. N had to drive there n back most days. Had an offer to stay but he felt it wasnt significantly better to justify staying when he had a rovers offer.
Gone really well for rovers this yr. Had him mom against wigan. That said he aint at ellis level!!!

| Difficult situation for the lad,but it seems the gentle/mcrae signings are being paid far more than they are worth, but for me the real blame lies with pearson who has sanctioned the deals ?

Same with Pitts, talked to Radford a few weeks back and he said how can you justify someone like Hadley being on 4 times less than Pitts, who with all respects is nothing more than a journey man forward. When it's a salary cap sport value for money is everything.'"
I can understand the club's point of view regarding players being on more than they perhaps should. I just disagree with trying to force them out and not playing cards we have available in the interim. As ChrisH said, I haven't seen anyone play centre for us this year much/any better than him, and I personally thought he was our 2nd best centre last year, too.

| Arundel money is ludicrus. For an example we released lyne brought in arundel n paid him 4times as much on average (due to the increasing nature of joes contract) if joe was an established decent level player fair doos. But wasnt much further on n looking at lynes improvement this yr hes probably already exceded joes level now n is 2yrs younger! And in either player were not talking stars yet ones on star player money! Gentle n bomber made a right hash of things but pearson must of been p****d at the time

| Quote: Dave K. "Not convinced by Arundel, he didn't even look anything special last week, I can't think of game he has been brilliant for Hull and I have never seen him perform against a top club. He has even been struggling to get into the Bradford team this season, sometimes playing in the backrow.
I would certainly have him in front of Whiting, but I would also say that about Crooks and Sa.
Time will tell if we have made a mistake with him, but I don't see him ever making a top centre in SL.'"
That statement doesn't apply to Arundel any more than any other centre besides Crooks over the last 2 seasons, though, does it?
You like stats, have a quick look at his compared to Yeaman's last year. In less games he scored more tries, averaged more yards, made more clean breaks, and (despite a reputation as a defensive liability) completed a higher % of tackles and averaged less errors.
The bottom line is that we want rid purely because of how much he earns, for ability and performances he's worth having around and is on the end of far more stick from fans than he deserves IMO.

How much?
No need to include bonuses. Just the basic salary will do.

He has to be at least partly at fault. There's a lot of blaming the old guard going on, but as the man in charge surely he must have had a bit more understanding than is being credited his way. If as rumoured Arundel is one of our top earners, surely he could have done something as simple as look at the existing payroll and see how the money being suggested compared? Even someone with no knowledge of the game should see something wrong with a young kid with potential being offered more than/as much as, say, Yeaman, who is a full international and loyal clubman, and plays the same position.

1st yr was 45 with bonus to go on top. All the other young kids of our own acadamy at time were on 20 k ish or less in some cases at that time.
But arundell jumps massively each yr regardless of form or injury. It cannot be justified for the level he was at when signed n level hes at now

| Arundel has promised much and delivered less for his entire career, not just his time at FC.
And we're not so much forcing him out as trying to offset the cap burden of his contract. The whole time he's playing for someone else we benefit cap-wise, and I guess the calculation is that other players offer better value for money.

Same person who told me about Mini signing (think I was the first person to name him on here ?) . Not gonna trek through all my posts but I've previously posted the Arundel pay scale rise before !!! Obviously not gonna name the source for obvious reasons and I'm not trying to sound itk on everything because my track record is about 2/100

| Still not big or clever to be bandying player's salaries around though. And whoever claims to know (and maybe does know) is being unprofessional at best by telling even one person.

We brought Colbon in whilst Arundel was here and fit. Arundel got a game on the wing against Salford , scored two tries and was replaced by Colbon the following week. Colbon never let us down so I have no issue with him but how is bringing in him and using him instead of Arundel good value or good use of the cap? It would on the other hand leave Arundel in no doubt that he's not wanted. If we're paying a player over the odds and have a group of players in his position all performing at around the same level then to me you play him and try to get the best out of the situation by doing everything you can to realise the potential that others saw in him rather than play him with the kids or leave him in the stands. I mean our centres are not exactly Greg Inglis are they?!
