Wasnt that contract he walked out on for a further 2 years though so would have seen the testimonial at the end?
Not sure - just what i overheard someone say the other day at work!

Not the whole truth, Kings was one year, his could have easily been the next or the one after, but before Hornes

I believe you have to have a contract in place that would run through until the end of your testimonial (unless the RFL overrule)
As his wasnt signed, surely he cannot gripe about it

Did Cooke sign for us in 1999 when he would have been 18 or is that when he made his debut? Just thinking that if he was at the club before that say on a youth contract from say 16 (1997) that he was maybe due his testimonial in 2007?

Hull FC to unveil new coaching structure tomorrow @looknorthBBC #hullfc
Don't know if already been posted.
Also on the Paul Cooke debacle, me personally my attitude is life's too short. I thought he was a complete an utter ....... at the time but if he can contribute positively to Hull FC I can live with him been involved. I think we all have made choices to different degrees for selfish reasons. As for we never recovered from him leaving well that was up to the Directors etc to rectify, which they failed to do time after time.
I just hope whoever is put in place gets the backing of the supporters and the club does not hype expectations up to an unrealistic level. If they do we will find ourselves back here again in a year or so. Whoever is appointed needs to be given realistic goals and time frames that everybody can buy in to and then fans can easily see progress or lack of it.

| I would be happy for Cooke to be involved if it means our attack improved. Working with the likes of Miller, HTW and the others in the Half Back School may be a great move. Otherwise, who is there to coach them? Radford? Last?

I agree. 2007 is a long time ago and if Cooke wants to come back and make a positive contribution in order to put right the wrong he did I don't have a problem with that.
It would seem to be a bit unfair on Gentle for the new coach to be given lower targets than him and/or longer to achieve them. Agree that we should be told what AP's aspirations for the club are and what we can expect.

| Quote: Tooms2000 "I will be one of the ones not going if Paul Cooke comes back .That will be me my daughter and 2 grandchildren. Paul Cooke made a decision in his life to leave Hull FC .At a time when things where possibly not going as planned .But as a result of this he left Hull deep in the Shlt . Then every time he played against us he saved his best performances for those occasions . I do not know the man , or his circumstances but I do know if he has anything to do with HUll FC I will not be going that is my decision . This could really back fire on Hull Fc as a club if they do let him back in'"
theres 7 of us in our house that feel the same way mate .there is also 4 local amateur clubs that play better rugby in this town so i will get my rugby fix there and it wont cost me a fortune

so would you welcome him back even if we lose half our fan base? less money for quality players and the downward spiral continues

| I'm hoping that if Paul Cooke is to become part of the coaching staff that it pays off . IMO I think it will . Hopefully the likes of J.cunningham , Bobby Tyson Wilson and a few of the young guys will get a lot of game time at Doncaster which will be surely needed

| The fact is that if Cooke helps Hull become successful, the nay sayers on here who will never come back whilst he's involved at the club, will suddenly forget all of the animosity they hold for him. If Cooke helps the club I support to be sucessful then he has my full support. Life is far too short to hold a grudge against someone for doing what they feel is right for them. I know that i've left jobs in the past because i've been offered better pay elsewhere, and I can guarantee that a lot of people on here have done the same.
Reading his column and following him on twitter, it's pretty clear to me that Paul Cooke has matured significantly since his time in the black and white, and his nomination for championship player of the year shows he still has a lot to offer rugby league.
