Quote: Rock God X "You say that every week. Thaler reffed the game equally for both sides. They got some 50/50 calls, but so did we. Our lack of attacking ability has nothing to do with refereeing.'"

Feel free to quote all those posts blaming the ref for our poor attack. Should be easy enough if I say it every week.

The refs in SL are generally crap, and I comment on that pretty much every week because pretty much every week they're crap. If you seriously believe that we got an even hand with the lousy decisions tonight then you might want to watch it back again.

And finally, I said that our lack of PTBs in their 20 had a lot to do with Thaler - not our misfiring attack. Having one of our halves do nothing of any note all game would probably explain that quite handily.

Quote: A unknown superstar "I seem to remember seeing a stat a while back that throughout the season, Hull are the team that seem to have the least amount of ball during games which figures with the amount of tackling we always have to do.
Do we turn the ball over that much? I don't think so, we just don't do anything with it.'"

We do turn the ball over more than we should, but another big problem is poor 6th tackle plays. We just don't build pressure. Like tonight, where Catalan forced all those dropouts and we managed just two (IIRC).

Quote: Kosh "In fairness we had little luck tonight. Having said that, DJ was almost completely anonymous which goes a long way towards explaining why we struggle to score. That and the fact that we had zero PTBs in their 20 metre zone in the entire second half. Some of that was our fault but a fair amount of it was Thaler being an enormous cock.'"

He was possibly better than last week, TBH.

50+ years a Hull FC fan and didnt go tonight so feeling a little bit 'ashamed'.

Watched the game on Sky and yes - our attack is poor- and yes - Catalan forced 10 goal line drop outs - but - our defence was just outstanding and the commitment from 1 to 17 was there to see.

Can we win at Huddersfield? Wigan showed that if you can stop the Giants A game they have no plan B.

If we produce a similar performance to tonight we still might not win but we would end the season with some pride and credibilitty restored.

You moan about refs every week.

Quote: Kosh "The refs in SL are generally crap, and I comment on that pretty much every week because pretty much every week they're crap. If you seriously believe that we got an even hand with the lousy decisions tonight then you might want to watch it back again.'"

Of course we did. Every week you seem to think we get a bum deal from the refs. This simply can't be the case unless someone at the RFL has decided that they'll always favour the opposition in our matches.

Quote: Kosh "And finally, I said that our lack of PTBs in their 20 had a lot to do with Thaler - not our misfiring attack. Having one of our halves do nothing of any note all game would probably explain that quite handily.'"

Whatever you said, it clearly wasn't anything to do with Thaler. Our own shortcomings led to our lack of possession and territory.

Solid display by the boys tonight in poor conditions. Defensively very sound.

Thought Westerman was very good tonight.

To say how dire the conditions were, that was a very handy performance and win. Towering defence. Well done lads. Privilege to applaud Menzies from the pitch too. Really good night.

Quote: Rock God X "You moan about refs every week.'"

I think I just said that, didn't I? Except I must have forgot to do that at Wembley. Or last week. And thinking about it I don't do it so much when I'm listening to the radio as I can't actually see what's going on. But nevermind - if you say it's so then it must be so.

Quote: Rock God X "Of course we did. Every week you seem to think we get a bum deal from the refs. This simply can't be the case unless someone at the RFL has decided that they'll always favour the opposition in our matches. '"

Actually not the case. A ref will often be poor for both sides and we might get the worst of it due to circumstances we should be controlling.

Is this where I should start pretending that you always support the refs no matter how crap they are? That's how this type of 'argument' is supposed to progress, isn't it? Unproven claims and false dichotomies?

Quote: Rock God X "Whatever you said, it clearly wasn't anything to do with Thaler. Our own shortcomings led to our lack of possession and territory.'"

So when Thaler gave a penalty for interference when the Catalan player threw himself to the ground with no Hull player within 2 feet of him, that was our own fault?

Righto.

I don't 'support' refs, I simply accept that they do a very difficult job, and that most fans' views of a referee's performance are coloured by the team they support. You are a particularly pertinent example of this. You and my dad, who is exactly the same.

Quote: Kosh "So when Thaler gave a penalty for interference when the Catalan player threw himself to the ground with no Hull player within 2 feet of him, that was our own fault?

Of course not, silly. But there were plenty of occasions where we could/should have been penalised but weren't. The same for them. If you took your black and white specs off and watched again, you'd see that this was the case.

After watching tonight we need to play whiting at Loose forward, his ball handling skills are far superior to westermans and more likely to have ellis going through gaps offf whitings offloads

Great team performance tonight and defence was excellent. Short kicking game continues to be poor though

Your defence cant be faulted, although it kind of ruined the game to watch.. Catalans had the ball most of the time but I already knew they wouldnt get over the damn line no matter how many sets they had. On the other hand Catalans offered nothing going forward near your line and youll need the same effort next week whoever you get
