| Quote: deslawson "Where was this fantastic fanbase when gateshead thunder moved their business to hull and took you over. Surely with a fanbase of 10,000 how could you be skint or have they just joined the band wagon since you moved to the KC. ??'"
How relevant is that? We wasn't a massive club at the back end era of the Boulevard, but since then we have been awarded a grade A license, and have improved our fanbase significantly. We have a fantastic fanbase now - it's immaterial what it was over 10 years ago. If you wanna drudge up irrelevant history, we got 28,798 into boulevard in 1936. We have always, and will always have superior crowd numbers to Hull KR.

Who this is i dont know but it isnt Gentle im afraid to say'"
Not sure I agree about Gentle not handling the pressure. Seems very assured to me at keeping calm and level headed and thinking long term. You could argue that he comes across as to laid back.

Well when there's next a vacancy I'll get AP to give you a ring so you can give him some advice.

As far as Aggression going forward we really do miss Moa and Manu... I said we need to replace them in the off season but the optimists among us kept saying 'In Gentle we trust' - We don't see much of that recently!

I have said on another thread that I trust in Gentle to improve this club and make it one that challenges. It doesn't alter the fact that Moa was superb at getting a quick ptb and hopefully Paea will do the same . Lynch is an outstanding prop in my view and has taken too much stick in isolation this season. He needs props of O Meley/Paea/Moa type to play alongside and I hope we sign another for 2014.

Not seeing Lynch getting in stick in isolation, personally. Pretty much all of our props have been criticised this season, with the exception of O'Meley, and justifiably so for all of them.

| Anyone who thinks you can make a championship winning team in two seasons is quite frankly brain dead. Before people point out Madge at Wigan, he took over a team that was 80 minutes away from a grand final and who had a core of players who had played together for 3/4 seasons.
Whilst I am deeply frustrated at the recent run of form I still firmly believe we are building a decent team. Its part of life that some signings will cut it and others wont but its through trial and error you can correct this. We have invested in some good young players, got some experience and now its all about fine tuning. The pack needs addressing and we have already started recruiting for it next season in signing a good player in Micky P from Rovers.
If people didn't get so carried away when we win a game they won't get really upset when we lose a couple.
When Gentle took over we had a mass of problems, no kicking game, no scrum half, no youth players coming through the ranks and win a play off game for the first time in years. Gentle has brought all these and whilst results don't look too pretty recently we are under his leadership going in the right direction.
Sure we are going to have to be patient, but thats life thats sport.

Fine by me - I think he's recently become the Galea of the front row but you disagree - no problem. Many posts are about Lynch not doing the job this season and far fewer are about Watts, Green, Bowden and Johnson so I'll stand by my claim. One thing you'll never get from Lynch IMO is less than 110% effort (sometimes it's his downfall) and in times like this those are the players that will ultimately bring us through short term pain. A few things have let him down this year but his stats will show not much difference to last year come October.

It would help, if all the players should get a quick play the ball.

Does anyone agree that Watts has lost too much weight??,looks a shadow of the player ,he was last season.

An interesting point in modern RL. All fans love a strong running forward who knocks players off the tackle and makes lots of meters or busts tackles completely, but the game has changed a lot in the last 5 years. Tackling technique is so much better that fewer barn storming runs occur in games. Therefore what is more important in the game now, trying to make an extra couple of meters in the tackle and get drawn in to a wrestle that slows the ptb right down. Or is it now better to find the floor quickly and get a quick ptb, especially when the player with the ball is dominant in the tackle. All FC fans loved Manu, but unless he was having a great game his strong runs actually turned in to slow ptb's. Just a thought.

A reason I liked Cusack was because he always got a quick PTB or quicker compared to others as did Dowes. However you still need that beef when coming away from your own line and if we get pinned near our own line we struggle to find a way out of it. When holdsworth is on form for the boot we can sometimes get out of jail with his kicks.

Agree about needing the strength to get out of your own 20, but how many times do teams make it out of their own 20 from breaks through the defensive line. It never happens due to a flat ball or a cut out pass as its seen as to dangerous in your own 20, and it rarely happens because of a forward going 50 meters due to a break. It nearly always happens now because of quick ptb's or penalties conceded because of quick ptb's. This obviously is helped when your forwards are not being dominated because they are lightweight or aren't pulling their weight.
