I didn't really think so last year, this year I have my doubts. I've just listed a few who haven't deserved their place at one time or another but retained it, and the only ones we have seen dropped are Arundel, Seymour and now possibly Green. I just don't see many brave selection calls being made even though things clearly aren't right. Gentle came out with bold talk in the wake of another Widnes debacle, but the biggest under performers of the season were still on the next team sheet.

Totally agree. Gentle should not be immune from criticism and ATM he deserves some.
As for players not being sure of him, maybe this is indicative of the problem if they aren't doing as he says. There have been plenty of rumours of Leeds players having doubts about McDermott and some of his decisions during his tenure, but they have seemingly just got on with it and reaped results. Does it just come down to the fact that McDermott is someone who is clearly the boss, one who commands obedience because the players wouldn't dare do otherwise? |
