I never said that, and I don't recall too many others saying it either. I said he was a 'very good' coach who could get us to the level where we are able to compete with the top teams. I even expressed some reservation as to whether he was the man to lead us to silverware.
You don't say? Like I (and several others) have said all along. That you imagined otherwise doesn't change that.
Wigan would say average? I don't think so. He laid the groundwork for what McGuire is achieving now. If you don't believe me, ask McGuire. He lead Crusaders to their first ever top 8 finish and they've dropped right back since he left. I think they might just hold him in high regard, too.
Him, or someone like him, yes.'"
Lordy - I never attributed either statement to either of us. I was speaking generally using extremes to illustrate the point. There is no doubt, though, that reaction when Nobles name was first mentioned a couple on months ago was less than lukewarm. It isn't now.
From what I see we agree on our views of Noble, his achievements over the last few years and what he can offer us. No animosity needed then.

Only now they are - look at Eorl Crabtree for example, only a few years ago he was a big, but devastatingly average forward, now with the right coaching, training and club setup he is a devastating big forward.

When Smith went to Wire he assumed the title Director of Coaching. Lowes retained his of First Team Coach.
Something similar could be engineered at Hull, surely, to keep everyone happy?

| It just shows how bad things have got when a defeat by Rovers could do us a favour. Would a Rovers spanking be enough to get rid of Agar? Agree with the sentiment that relegation would wake the 'board', they're like rabbits in the headlights.

See numerous examples on this thread and others on how Noble, Smith, McGuire et al have done exactly this with other inherited squads. We have a good squad with a coach that doesn't know how to develop or get the best out of them.
Looking from the other angle, how different is Graeme Horne as a player after two years under Brown at Hudds? First team regular, highly regarded. Completely stagnant under Agar at Hull.

I may have slightly black and white tinted glasses but I think a good coach would relish the opportunity to take the reins with the current Hull FC squad. Aside from all the off field strength with money available for transfers, full cap, etc I think we have some quality players simply not playing to their potential both as individuals and more importantly as a team.

Fully agree. Someone mentioned before that Noble's preference would be for Hull . Not sure if he's right, but if so it's surely because of the wealth of untapped potential.

But, would good coach relish having to be a yes man?

Can a coach be good and a yes man simultaneously?
