They don't lie, as such, they just provide a very narrow, compartmentalised summary of difficult to define inconsistencies, as far as rugby league goes. i.e. they aren't much use in this context. |

Stats are only useful if the person reading them knows what they really mean.
Stats without context also tell you very little. Example: metres made... easy to make metres if you're in a good team that can find space for you to run in. Tackles made... if you're in a team that's constantly defending, you'll make more tackles.

Think Berro will have made more tackles last night than he had done in the previous games combined. Wigan did really well getting at him and tired him out. I think we need to do more to protect Berro in defence like Brisbane did by having him defending as a centre. |

When you have less possession, you make less carries. He's not made that many carries less than the player you're comparing him to. |
