| Lets face it
The KC is rubbish, and compared the the Boulevard, it is not a "home" venue. There is no advantage at all to the Hull team playing there.
Yes atmos is a factor, but we hardly play at the KC so that itself doest create any atmos. The team dont train there, that creates a level playing field when we are the home team.
Why are we not playing friendlies at home?
So, we'll go to the KC 13 times in 2009, there might be one good atmos (might not even be Rovers) as for the other 12, give me Boulevard and the 3d any day

| Got to say I actually prefered the away games at the Boulevard over the KC!

It's fine having that opinion, but it's very different to the reality we perceived and it's bound to get us a little upset.'"
you need to read ther early pages of this thread again.
I disagreed with the view that some seem to have that the atmosphere at the KC is worse than that of the Boulevard. The basis of this is that the mjority who support this view cannot actually back it up as most are still upset we left the Boulevard and think its the be all and end all.
As has been pointed out, in its pomp (1979 - 1985) the Boulevard was an intimidating venue for visiting teams due to the noise generated by the vast majority of the ground, especially the 3d.
After the Bradfrod fire, (which saw the 3d capacity more than halved) attendances were on teh slide and the atmosphere was far less impressive, the odd game the exception.
After Hillsborough, the decision came to knock down 2/3 of the 3d for seats. basically the intimidating atmosphere was lost from that point forward, give or take the odd big game.
Someone mentioned a try scored by Chico Jackson against Batley in 1996, even referring to a video created a great atmosphere. That arguement is somewhat compromised as it was against a different team on a different season. Even the quote of "Tomlinson threw the pass" is somewhat odd as Glen Tomlinson played for Batley AFTER he has finished with us in 1998. So in some eyes the scoring of a try is the atmosphere
Quoting names like Edwards, Davies etc. They are too professional to come out in the public and say the reason they disliked playing at The Boulevard was the venomus hate ans spittal which went there way as they were taking the field
The FACT remains, that in the last 6-7 years of the Boulevard (attedances were rubbish with the execption of a handful of games), the atmosphere was poor. If you were one of the fortunately few in the 3d standing it might cloud your judgement, but beleive me when I say, the vast majority of the ground hardly knew you had started any singing.
Its a little like the myth the rovers fans would like everyone to beleive that craven park is "rocking". Having has the mis-fortune to go there 3 times in the last 2 season, you can hardly hear them in the Zeebrugge end.
Its not having a go at our past, its just being realistic about, what ended up being an appauling sports stadium.

| Quote: Holty "it had a great atmosphere against leeds in the challenge cup quater final game, even the police helicopter stayed and watched the game, we lost 20-18 or did i imagine it all
No you didn't imagine it, we did lose.
I was stood at the Gordan street end for that game (first 5 figure gate we had for a fair while). The noise was ok but i think it would be a bit odd if it wasn't for a game against our nearest rivals (at the time) in teh 1/4 of the cup.
What do you remember of the previous or following games? Apparently the Boulevards atmosphere was at fever pitch even for Colts games
The point being these games were few and far between, it was the exception to the norm.

| The atmosphere at the KC has been brilliant for certain games, someone mentioned the Bradford grand final eliminator as the best they have experienced and other than a Final I would probably agree. However, our dire style of rugby over the last few years has led to a general boredom factor setting in which has made it hard to generate any sort of sustained noise. Away games are different because everyone stands together and the people who go to away games are the die-hards who also enjoy the trip as much as the game.
The Boulevard, like the KC, had some brilliant atmospheres but it also had its poor ones. The KC itself does not stop a good atmosphere being generated and if we start playing some attractive/exciting rugby the noise will be there.

| Whilst we're on the subject of the Boulevard. Does anyone recall a family who used to bring a lad in bed with drips and oxygen bottles and numerous medical devices attached to the bed? I used to think it was the strangest sight I've ever seen at a sports venue!

Although there is plenty of this I interpret to be nonsense, I can only really be bothered to point out that Tomlinson played for Batley well before he played for us, or Bradford. He certainly played for Batley against us at the Boulevard, I can only assume you stayed at home for those fixtures.

THE BOULEVARD IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE HOME OF HULL F.C.
F.C. forever-forever F.C.: |

Used to lay at the corner of Airlie St and 3d's, i used to cringe when one of my lads kicked their ball and it hit his bed, ooops
As for this thread, how come it has turned into a which ground is best as this is not what the actual 1st post was about, and unless i've missed it the original poster hasn't commented since and is sat reading some of the comments and is laughing his cock off at some of the muppets on here and the arguements that have ensued, as this is how all of these threads end up, and generally deteriorates into who's the best fan and who's been going the longest.
My answer, I prefer the Boulevard atmos over the KC anyday!
