| there's still a significant level of fraud with respect to age related concessions at sporting events, Hull City experienced this and had a big run in with fans over it recently.
Personally I don't think there should be an 'oap' concession at all, for the junior/student, yes. Also there should be no oap concession for season tickets/full memberships if indeed there is one.
However I understand why clubs still offer it, too fearful that removal will lose fans, frankly if a couple of quid will stop some fans from attending (which it does in RL circles a lot from what I've read over the years including a reason for opposition fans not to come to our ground) then that is really more down to other things as opposed to affordability.
'pensioners' get far too many freebies/concessions as it is, the old pony trotted out 'well we put into the pot for xx years so we deserve xxx' is a nonsense, didn't pay anywhere near enough.

| Never understood why OAP's get discounts, what is wrong is that it's different at different clubs, by 2020 the retirement age is going to be 66, any discounts should be linked to whatever the state retirement age is.

My you seem even more Bitter and twisted than normal.
If you don't chill out a bit you might never reach an age where you will receive such perks.

"The current state pension age is 63 for women and 65 for men, with the former due to rise steadily until all workers retire at 65 by 2018. From 2019, the state pension age will increase for both men and women, reaching 66 by 2020 and 67 between 2026 and 2028"
If it keeps going up a lot of us will never see a pension!

| I'm 76 and enjoy my concession. The fact that "you know who" doesn't like it makes it even more enjoyable. Suck it up Bumpy. You stick with your discounted membership.

Out of interest, if you didn't get a discount would you still go?

Of course I would. I've been supporting this team since the days of Mick Scott, the Drake twins etc., so saving a few quid is not a consideration for me.

| I too enjoy my concession and have done for five years. My lovely lady passed away at 64 after working most of her life as a nurse and enjoyed her pension for 6 months. Swings and roundabouts as they say. Anyone knocking concessions etc. Needs an head tap, but like de Murphy’s, I’m not bitter, unlike some.
