| Contested scrums wont come back, the reason they were scrapped was due to back injuries. Also I remember the tedium of scrums collapsing, not set, feeding, and constsnt penalties the game was slow and boring, might as well watch union if they go back to that.
I agree with the deadball line thing being scrapped, that just penalises good kicks, what was wrong with the rule that if it was on the full the a foot over killed the ball but not a bouncing ball.

| Quote edinburgh yorkie="edinburgh yorkie"correct me if i`m wrong, but when i listened to the cas game,i`m sure one of the commentators said cas had won 1 of hull fc scroms.'"
Not quite, the Cas pack did an old fashioned shove as the ball went in and Danny Houghton knocked on as the hull packed were shoved into him.

| Quote Staffs FC="Staffs FC"Can't really understand the point that 'plodding props' would return if scrums were contested. Why would they ?
Keep the scrums and make them more interesting.'"
it'd slow the rugby down, hence allowing the slower players a greater chance in the top flight. If I wanted to watch a long dragged out slow game, I'd watch the ra ra boys.

| Quote the artist="the artist"one point about scrums that a lot of people gloss over is the fact that they tie up 6 players from each side for 1 play. in an attacking situation it gives more adventurous teams a chance to put on a special play, as for a few seconds, its 7 a side. remember the 1982 replay. sadly nowadays most sides would rather play the percentage game of 6 drives rather than chancing their arm on tackle 1'"
I agree. Gives the backs a brief chance for flair.
Would definitely keep, but would improve and police better. Shoving allowed only once the ball is in and fed in true between the hookers.

| Massive element of union with commentators waxing lyrical c/o technical element of scrummaging ! recent super 14s around 50% resulted in penalties, none against the head 30 minutes of the game wasted.

| The games fast enough. Scrums allow a respite,a chance to take a min whether in attack or defence. Reset yourselves. Put on a move perhaps. Scrap scrums and speed the game up yet more youll fundamentally change the game. Big men will disappear . especially if interchanges are introduced. You'll end up with a field of clones. All built like centres/2nd rows with games of 30/40odd 30/40odd most weeks.

| Keep the Scrums , contested best but if not then apply the rules properly i.e proper legal feed into the middle , linesman to ensure to the ref that the defending side stay back until the ball is in the hands of the 'scrum half'' collecting the ball and the ref to stop coaching the defending side by declaring the ball 'out'. if they pack properly the defending hooker can see and call the ball out for his teammates. This should ensure there is a possibility of some enterprise in attack as currently all teams seem to cheat when defending and how many times have we seen offside given in these circumstances ?

| putting the ball between the hookers gives far too much for the offending team, happy that the ball is fed between props legs but allowing the shove and policing the 5 metres is the way to go.
