Not sure it's about them being labelled as 'only good enough for a fish house'. Did you manage to listen to Radford's explanation at tonight's forum?

Hardly a PR stunt if it's just a story inside the Mail. It's not even mentioned on the club's website. Aside from which the fish factory is one of a number of venues according to the HDM article.

Working in a fish factory may give a small sense of perspective but I'd guess most in the factory now will be East europeans following Red Star Belgrade or the similar and never heard of Hull FC.
Pure gimmick if you ask me. Similar to using Gordon Street gym a few years back.'"
You do realise they do this as well, don't you? A little perspective can do a lot for a 17/18 yr old that's had smoke blown up his ass since he was 11/12 because he was good at rugby.

| Very positive move as it will show a young group of lads, many who won't make a FT rugby player a range if careers and opportunities.
As said above Fish factory was only one of the businesses mentioned, some jobs might also motivate them more to make it as a rugby player.

Agreed. The way I see it is that it is a reminder of what life can be like to try and make players realise how good they've got it, so that they might appreciate it more and work to make the most of it.

There's more to being a good rugby player than being physically fit and skilful.

| This is a policy that Craig Bellamy has always used at Melbourne. All new signings have to spend a couple of weeks digging up roads etc. Inglis, Smith, Cronk, Slater have all done it, no exceptions. Hasn't done them any harm has it?!

Where does it say it's only for a week? All I can see is a week minimum. Saying that, even if it was only for a week whats the harm?

| With the state of the fishing industry in this country and manufacturing in hull they'd be lucky to get a job in a fish factory if their rugby career doesn't take off, perhaps having them stacking shelves on nights in asda or collecting glasses in wetherspoons might be a more realistic warning nowadays!

| At the forum it was said that they are going all over not just in the fishing industry, Smailesey just picked up on that. These kids are already in the classroom studying for a qualification every day at Bishop Burton. The idea was to give them an insight as to the working environment but more to get the players out there rubbing shoulders with fans in the work place to see how much the Club means to them and the sacrifices they make to support it. Its only going to be for a short period and doing it for a week or so shows nothing to lose for me and any fans who don't see it as a good idea probably have their attitudes coloured by the factor that they don't like Lee Radford but for me its a great idea!.
