Exactly.

| Gentle came across as a genuinely nice bloke. That might have been part of the problem. You can't imagine him giving the team a bollocking when needed.
Will Radford be our Shaun Wane/Brian McDermott? Time will tell, I suppose.

| I have always been a massive fan of Radders as my posting history will show, however he has no first team SL coaching experience whatsoever, and our recent history proves promoting 2nd coaches simple does not work for us, too much of a gamble imo & I cannot see passes flying off the shelf with this announcement. Cook to be his assistant if rumours all over twitter are to be believed.

| Cooke offered his services not so long ago part time and foc to help out with the academy but the club declined.

| I don't expect there will any stories of "player power" or "losing the dressing room" if this does come off, it seems to be the way more and more clubs are going now, Powell, Anderson, Wane etc. Good luck, good to see a local being given a go.

| Glad gentle is (appears to be) going. It's become apparent in recent weeks/months that he was as clueless as the last coach (maybe even more so) but to appoint another inexperienced coach is asking for the same thing to happen again. I actually think Radford could become a good head coach but the time isn't right for him IMO. He needs to work alongside a good quality coach for another 2 or 3 years at least.
The last decent coach we had was mcrae. He built the foundations of the team which won the cup in 2005 and got to the GF in 2006. Since then we've had a succession of assistants, none of whom have been up to it. We really should have appointed someone with head coach experience when we appointed gentle and to make the same mistake again is foolish on the part of pearson IMO.
Shame that powell has joined cas as he would have been a better candidate IMO.
Also think that Radford is too matey with the current squad and if tony's first 2 pieces of recruitment are feka and mika then he's as bad as mcrae if not worse. Add cooke and last into the mix and instead of a dream team you have a potential nightmare one.
I really think pearson needs to take a step back here and take some advice from outside the club before he makes things worse

There won't be if he goes out drinking with them

| Quote OllieFC="OllieFC"Paul Anderson isn't doing a bad job at Huddersfield to say that this is his first top flight coaching job. Radford could be exactly what this club needs, he'll be bursting with pride and have that rawness that could take us up a step!'"
Anderson had rather more experience as an assistant before making the step up. And if Radford knows how to solve our problems, why has he kept the information to himself for the last two years?
Also, if rumours are to be believed (I know they're often not), Radford is frequently seen out drinking with members of the first team squad. Not sure that's a good basis for him to be made head coach.

| IF this is true, and it is IF then it will signal Pearsons change in attitude towards a top 4 push. It leans more towards a consolidation period rather than the big push he's been using for the last couple of seasons. Everyone knows if you are serious about title then unless your building on solid foundations then experience is a must. Anderson, wane and mcdermot all picked up good top 4 teams and ran with what they had and tweaked the team a little. Radford would need a considerable amount of rebuilding to do and that needs experience.
This along with signings like mika and feka would in my view be a cloth cutting exercise but as I said it could equally be rubbish

If that's true then you'd assume that it's likely to stop. Pearson clearly doesn't mess about or suffer fools gladly unlikely the previous regime.

If it's true, it shouldn't have been happening up until now.
