We are not at full cap. AP has said he's holding some back till after the World Cup.
Amor would have been a quality signing, dissapointed to have missed out if indeed we were trying to get him

| Quote: Whiting "Brown is quoted as saying "Kyle is already one of the best front rowers in Super League" which is a position many of us agree needs strengthening. £50,000 is far less than we paid for Westerman, so i don't think we did as we wouldn't stop at 50.
I am not certain how it works but for example if we had offered Wakey £80,000 for him, why would it be Amor's choice to accept St Helens offer leaving Wakey with £30,000 less? You would assume Wakey would turn around to Sts and ask them to match our bid, irrelevant if he wants to come here or not.'"
I don't know how it works either but I suppose it depends how mercenary Wakefield are feeling. Perhaps Amor stated his desire to join Saints but Saints wouldn't offer more than £50k. Wakefield then accepted Saints offer as a compromise between getting as much cash as possible and getting Amor a club he found acceptable. Just a possible scenario.
Wakefield seem a decent club so it seems plausible to me, I'd hope Hull would conduct themselves in a similar manner.
Of course it's possible we were never in for him but I don't see how we can lambast the club for not outbidding Sts when we don't really have a clue what went on.

| i really thought we had him sorted to come here, especially when bludgell tried to stir it up by announcing in hull wail that they were offering 200,000 for him(as if you could believe that from a club without a pot to p in). pity cos i personally rate highly.

| He probably watched our match against Saints on Friday. That would certainly have made his mind up.

Standee's right on this. Hypothetically, if we were in for him, if Amor just categorically refused to negotiate terms with us it wouldn't matter how much we offered to Wakey. Saints then have no reason to match our offer, regardless of how much Wakey stamp their feet.

Oh yeah I'm aware they couldn't force him to go to the highest bidder, my suspicions arise from the fee of only 50k. Surely Wakey would be very reluctant to accept a lower offer when they are so desperate for this 400k. It all suggests to me we weren't in the running for him, and if that's true I'm disappointed. Thanks for a reply that wasn't intended as a dig

I am sure if we were in for him that could have very likely happened, it's just disappointing to see a good young, English prop (a position in which we are in need) go to a rival club for such a small fee. I'd like to see us be ruthless in the market as other teams would be, Wakefield's loss should be our gain, however sad it is for the sport.

How long did he have left on his contract though, wasn't it only a year? Reckon 50k wouldn't be far off the value of the remainder of his contract if so.

| We should have made him a priority. Saints recruitment has been excellent so far.

| Nothing changed from last season,he had the chance to join hull last season as well and didn't fancy it. Cant understand why, staying with wakey when he had the chance to join a big club like hull.

Maybe the case, but I think we have both missed out on the best available prop for different reasons.

If Wakefield don't accept your offer then you Can't speak to the player. If Hull had offered 80k then He'd have only been allowed to speak with Hull as Saints and Rovers both offered 50k. It would have been for Saints to match Hulls offer. Hull obviously didn't offer as much because Wakefield accepted two bids of 50k for Amor. One of those from Rovers and the other Saints.
Amor was then given permission to speak with both clubs and choose Saints. You win some you lose some.
