Think you'll find it's Rovers who've put a fine servant down by announcing this as a flippant afterthought. They deserve criticism.
As for Briscoe, wish things had worked out different for him in the city of Hull. The phrase "If it's not broken why mend it" comes to mind. If only it had occurred to Sharp. Good luck, Shaun.

I was a big fan of Briscoe but he's only himself to blame in the way his career has spiraled backwards IMO.
Tried to demand too much and then found himself way behind Motu Tony due to the form he was in. You can't demand more money when your not getting into the team. Still ATEOD he knew some club would come in and offer him money he was not worth and they did, fair play on him by doing whats right for his family at least.
Shaun Briscoe day seems like a distant memory.

Don't really want to get into all this again, but Briscoe was never behind Tony as a fullback. Tony was a great player but not a stand out fullback - moulded into the position come what may to satisfy Sharp's mania for "utility" over "specialists".
I've never understood the Motu v Briscoe "either or" arguments. Both were of great value to the team, but Motu was of much greater value as a utility back. Of course, he did pretty well for NZ too as hooker.
And I bet Briscoe rues that day he let his agent negotiate his new Hull deal.

| Good luck to him. In hindsight he made a mistake in leaving Hull.
Nice to see Rovers treating their outgoing players with their usual class.

| I always feel a bit sorry for those who move on to Rovers after playing for Hull. It's like eating every meal at Bob Carvers after years of dining at Ceruttis. Phelps be warned.

Towards the end of that Season Motu was way out playing Briscoe, hence why Briscoe ended up playing on the wings.
