Didn't Lauaki screw up his visa with the English language requirement because he used a Tongan passport rather than his NZ one (becaue NZ is an English speaking country).

I do not see he has a problem with quota, surely KR had all that paperwork and a quota place available for him.

I think its the immigration rules we have now in place that are holding the job up if not stopping it from happening. By going to Tonga its gets around the probelm by using EEC regs on south seas islanders getting special immigration treatment under developement status.

If that is the case, then they may find that it doesn't work. It would depend on the reason for refusing a Visa in the first place - if that's what's happened of course.

Well that's just driven a coach and horses through the RFL's quota regulations. It also means that we now have two overseas places available if we need to use them.

Ridiculous.

At least now we don't have to worry about understanding them - all those hours poring over the ever-changing fine print.

All I can think is that they've decided the NRL's double-your-money television deal for 2012(?) onwards and maybe the new tax regs, are going to render quotas moot.
