| I think that if we were able to get sky or virgin etc, we would still need to pay for land line rental. So we would have to stick with KC, or pay £11+ per month on top of sky or virgin package price, for line rental.

| Quote Andrea FC="Andrea FC"actually kc will let other companys in but charge 6-99 a month to use there lines which makes it very expensive for other companys to compete that is only the phone lines they have let other companys in on they will not allow anyone into there internet services'"
As I understand it (and I could be completely wrong) some time ago all telcos had to unbundle their local loops and KCom were no exception. I think the problem for companies coming into Hull is that, to compete with KCom's services, they would have to reduce various tariffs substantially. Iif they do that for customers (residential) in Hull they have to offer the same deal to all of their other customers which would mean a big hit to revenue. Therefore, they leave Hull alone. As I said earlier, that could be total bollox.

| Quote rowdellhead="rowdellhead"i would love to get sky broadband and sky talk together as one package to with my current sky tv package is this possible in Hull???'"
While its a bit of a disgrace that you can't get Sky Broadband as you should have the choice in the 21st century, your really not missing anything by not been able to get it - Sky Broadband is terrible.
I'm pro customer choice, however I have to say that even if given the choice I would probably stay with Karoo. I often have to work and have indeed lived in areas which are covered by the BT network and generally I find the speeds and service are a lot better from KC. Indeed, apparently Karoo are now considered one of the best ISP's in the country. I know I am getting speeds up 10mb at the moment, while in the week when I am in Manchester, I can get speeds of upto 450kb if I'm lucky (BT Broadband)

It is.
KC are just playing a simple game of looking like they are open, while actually pretty much operating a monopoly by making it unviable for other operators to buy onto their network.
As I have said before, if KC was operating in virtually any other city in the UK it would have been sorted out years ago, if it had been London, it would never have been allowed in the first place. We just don't register strongly enough on the poltical radar.

| checked up today on tinternet and this deal is pretty rubbish
for unlimited uk landline calls it's £11 for first 3 months then it goes to £22 a month this is on top of the £11 line rental charge and this to there basic internet package and its costing well over £40 a month
if you want there basic phone package (free calls on a weekend only) and there basic internet (10GB limit) it works out at £18 a month
and all other calls are 10p per minute.
the bloke on the phone I spoke to to find out what the off tariff calls were charged at was very un helpful and was trying to sell me packages without telling me the prices after the first 3 months. Be very wary of this

when I was at uni we had big problems with Virgin signing us up to a discounted deal over the phone, and then sending us bills for the full amount after we'd signed up. It took months of phone calls and letters before we finally got our money refunded.

| Not sure where you are looking but i see unlimited broadband and unlimited local and national calls including line rental equals £36 a month
I currently pay £29 for internet and another £13 for phone each month plus i get the privelidge of paying for national calls on top of that.
So i would save a decent amount each month as i do not ring mobiles from home phone so all my calls would be free.
