That's the new, merged, club receiving cash to pay off the creditors of both the pre-merger clubs then? Not a payment to the old Hull club to accept the merger?
Here's another clue for free: Look up the composition of the Gateshead board before the merger and the new Hull FC after the merger. Then tell me who received the money.

Hull FC were the new club, so they got the 1.25 million. Who they paid with it is irrelevant to the debate.

Are you accepting then that the current Hull club are only 13 or so years old and have no claim to the history of the original Hull club they replaced after the Gateshead merger?

Hardly, since my original point was that the 1.25 million figure was the combined debt of both clubs prior to the merger and not some kind of inducement paid to only one half. And the article backs that up. The Gateshead BOD bought out Lloyd, merged the clubs, and received the cash to pay off the [icombined[/i creditors.
Anyway - I'm off to bed now. Feel free to have the last word.

Nope. Because the operating companies were merged (not the sports clubs) and the new operating company - Hull Super League Limited - opted to continue with the Hull sports club rather than the Gateshead one.
If I wanted to be [ireally[/i pedantic then not even the new, merged Hull FC received any cash. The money went to Hull Super League Limited.
And that really is my last post. It's been a slice.

Last word or not, the £1.25million was a figure offered by the RFL & SL to any 2 clubs agreeing to merge, Huddersfield received exactly the same amount when absorbing Sheffield.
If it then went to pay creditors that's irrelevant, the point is the offer from the RFL was there and Hull took it, they did so as a method of bailing themselves out.
Now either the pre merged Hull is also the new Hull in which case you're statement is wrong or the pre merged Hull came to an end in which case the current Hull FC has no claim to the history of the old club, which is it?

Until then a £1.25m bonus from television money is available.'"

| Didnt Hull sharks take over Hull Fc as they went bust, serious question as I cannot recall how you became Hull Sharks and then back t Hull FC I seem to recall some financial issues.HKR went into administration too.
On this thread then if the poster can verify his claims about Wakefield promising a new ground and to play at oakwell please post the evidence. My understanding was BV was not up to scratch, McAlpines carried out 100K of improvements as they wanted to build a new stadium (yes the issue of a new stadium has been gouing that long for wakefield/Cas/Fev with the council). The lights at BV were not good enough for Sky so the televised game against Saints was put on the road at Oakwell where Wakefield beat them.
As for Pearman, he was a fraudster who came to the club he owned lots of land rather bizarrely land where the new stadium is to be built at Newmarket. He spent big what he never had and the club suffered for it going into a CVA.

No. Hull Sharks was just the name Hull played under when they were promoted to SL. Post merger the name was changed to Hull FC. And oddly enough neither Hull nor Gateshead actually went bust - although they both would have done if they hadn't merged.

Thank God we returned to the clubs true name.

| Just posturing from Wakey. Nothing whatsoever in it.
All I can say is Johnson must be a good player for them to come out and accuse us of illegal approach. Perhaps we can sue them and finally send them down a league. The RFL should have done it just after condemning their doghole of a stadium.

It is a fact. Your stadium is a doghole.
Perhaps you don't see it. After all, when you have a dog, you don't notice it smells after a while.
