| Everyones got the right to their own opinion but to me richard horne is a legend, upto his neck/back injury and the diabitese(sp) he was a fantastic player .got to agree with smallears he should have gone to full back a few years ago . But to be short sighted and judge the guy over the last couple of seasons and disregard the years previous to that is imo bullsh@t and disrespectfull to a long serving hull fc player and like I said a LEGEND not just to me but thousands for fc fans .

I've no problem with that. To you, Richard Horne is a legend. That's fair enough. But I'm not just judging him on the past couple of years. When he first broke into the side, he didn't overraw me. I appreciate the man's loyalty. It's a quality that is unfortunately missing in a hell of a lot of players in professional sport nowadays. But we could have, and should have, replaced him with better years ago.

| If we've only kept Horne because he's a local lad why have we not kept King, Washy, hall, tommy Lee etc, it's a ridiculous argument. He has more try assists than anyone at the club this season and is by far the best support player we have. He should be our full back for the rest of this season and next too.

You don't think him being a local lad has played a part?

Are you out of your tiny little mind???? For a solid 2 seasons Horne was the only reason to bother turning up to games. When he had his pace he was lethal. For the sake of sanity - get some highlight dvd's and watch him rip every opposition defense to shreds, and score shed loads of tries!

You must watch a different game to most people. Do you ever watch what Horney does in defence?
I've never considered Richard Horne to be the brightest player on the park and one of his major failings is he is an all-round player. When he finds a gap, invariably he hasn't the pace to finish his break. Whiting is similar in that respect, yet he doesn't seem to be castigated in the same way. His long-kicking game is crap but that's been known for years, so why put him into the position of kicking long?
He has proved a great servant to the club, he still has a lot to offer on the field, full-back would be an ideal posititon, given his skills, limitations and all-round commitment. That's not sentiment talking, that's watching his game and wondering who we'd replace him with given what's available and affordable. Coming back from a serious neck injury and diabetes takes a certain level of mental toughness - a quality that cannot be bought. That comes with a love of the game and more importantly a love of the team you are playing for.
For my money, Rich Horne can still bring something to the game, if for nothing else, he can show upcoming players that it's not all about how many tries you score or how many tackles you break or make. It's about how you can contribute to making the TEAM a functioning unit. That even after suffering personal setbacks, you can still go out there and perform and more importantly, help others perform at a better level.
Every SL team has at least one Richard Horne in their squad, some of us just seem to be more inclined to dwell on his negatives than any positives he may bring.

I am a supporter of Hull FC, I know nobody in any official capacity at the club, I have no inside information, but I reserve the right to hold opinions.: |
|
| Richard Horne has been a great servant to the club but everyone eventually has to accept that there is a time to change direction when he makes that decision which only he can make I hope the club offer him a suitable off field role and he can continue to be a valuable member of HFCs family.

And yet again, a discussion turns into childish insults. It is an opinion. It is my opinion. Obviously you have a different one. I never saw Richard Horne 'rip' every opposition defence to shreds.

He was right in the end: |

He is one of the main reasons why we haven't pushed on to silverware consistently. He is not a half-back in a winning team. We needed to put sentimentality aside years ago and stop offering him new contracts.'"

| I think rich horne is a legend.. yes hes not as good as he use to be before his neck injury. (i think that does play in his mind abit though)
but with regards to him being at half back, i dont think he should be there now. his best position is full back but not other coach put him there.
But horne has always played his best for us in my mind

| Cod heads post was spot on. I'm sick of people on here slagging Horney and I wonder if they were born when he made his debut.
He was 16 if I recall and played a stupid amount of games when should have been eased into he side. The man is FC through n through has looked after himself and been a great pro.
I agree last few years not been fantastic but think about the illness etc and remember the bravery in the cup final v saints when he was like a skeleton.
Just show some respect to an FC legend.
