| it was a great game, without the weather we'd have won that. without half our side playing. Roll on the top 8 because we will be stronger for that experience. i really enjoyed it and thought the right edge looked exceptional. Faraimo is an absolute beast. Logan stood up well. Washy never lets us down and the ball to connor was sublime.
we go again.

| Quote: knockersbumpMKII "Might as well toss it off now then eh, no point turning up, fans or players, tell Radford to report to the RFL to tell them that we aren't putting out a team for the last 9 games because a couple of so called 'fans' on a rugby forum have said we're done for the year
Instead of acting like an idiot, why don't you come up with a compelling reason you think we will make the top 4?
No one but you has said we should throw in the towel but the reality of the situation is we're down 7 or 8 players and doing it tough. I'm sure you'll agree that radford and the youngsters he's developing have done an amazing job for us even to be near the top 4 given the season we've endured with injuries but the cold, hard facts are that if the teams above us win their games in hand we'll be 12 points behind saints, 8 behind wigan, 6 behind cas and 4 behind wire. That's a lot of ground to make up and we're reliant on those teams losing enough games for us to be even in with a shout. Difficult at the best of times but a really tough ask with the injuries we have and when players are likely yo be back.
Another thing to bear in mind is we've yet to win a game away from the Kcom against any of the current top 8 (still a couple to play) and also lost away against 2 of the current bottom 4 so it doesn't seem likely we'll go on a long winning run to me.
Just my opinion of course and I'll carry on watching and enjoying games but it doesn't alter my opinion that we'll finish between 5th and 7th this season and I see no point talking the prospects up just so I can have a dig when we don't achieve

| Catching Saints - impossible
Catching Wigan or Cas - very difficult
Catching Warrington - realistic, especially if they lose to Wakey today. If they did, that would mean by merely matching their results for rest of season and beating them in Super 8s, we would probably finish above them.
That is entirely realistic but could really do with them losing today.

| We were down on numbers and there was still not a lot in it last night.
Its small margins.
I don't think its season over, when we get troops back we'll be stronger.
We are able to beat any team home or away when we are on it, and that's what they will have to be, and do, to get to Old Trafford.
They've set the Grand final as their key objective. I think they'll treat it like knock out football and i'm looking forward to the ride. We just need to get our strongest side out there more and we'll have a real chance.
Last nights loss made it harder, but its still do-able.

| I would like to see Wigan’s first try again.
Looked like he bounced it in touch from the East Stand ?

| Quote: knockersbumpMKII "if a player attempts a drop goal, it bounces off the cross bar and regathered by a player of the same team but standing in front of the kicker is that offside? Because the Wigan player who collected it was from my view in an offside position, as were most of the wigan side at the point of the kick.'"
Here in lay the difference in the officiating of the game when its not a Sky game.
Wigans fist try - debatable - Ref asks the touch judge (15 yards further up field from the incident) rather than the in goal official (in line with dead ball line) and awards try
First attack of second half, Kelly kicks through an goes to ground the ball. Not even a discussion with any other official deemed no try.
Wigans winning score, as you mention, has a big suggestion of off side.
Come to think of it, the penalty which Wigan equalised with would be interesting to watch back. It was a free play to wigan but they also knocked on prior to the Hull player dropping on the ball.
If the VR is there, there is (or shouldnt be) any debate.

The penalty was dumb play by paea who knew he was offside

5 games left before the split. 4 against teams below us. Not being presumptuous but lets say we get 4 wins. We also have St's at home, let say we lose that. 8 points.
Super 8's, we all start taking points off each other.
We need to finish 4th after another TWELVE games.
By the start of the 8's we should have our first choice 7 and winger back, A short while later we should have our best meter making centre back. Couple that with the return of Manu / Westerman, I see reasons to be positive.
Not wanting to wish injury on any player, but our squad has been particularly hit this season. Who's to say another club will not go through a bad run of injuries?

Paea actually stood off the ball, its was anything player who dropped on it.
But, as mentioned, the ball had come loose from a Wigan knock on and ended the free play. Should have been a scrum wigan for me.

| No problem with the result, for me the best team won. More disappointed with our performance, defence apart we were very poor.

A very good effort by FC with so many players out, as some have said the game was there to be won.
Having seen the posts responding to a "our season over " post, does your perspective on the rest of the season not show that the current system gives teams more to fight for especially as one team is looking likely to run away to take the league leaders shield again?
Any team can get injuries so Sts losing Barber or Wire losing Hill could have a major impact on the rest of the season.
Whatever plan they come up with for the SL it needs to keep as many teams playing until the season end as possible. I wouldnt want to be joint top of SL going to the last game knowing our competitors are playing a team with nothing to play for.

Great post.
IMO that would improve Wire, he has gone backwards at a rate of knots this season. Baffles me why he is a shoe in for England

| I don't think Wigan's problems are behind them after that result, that 4th spot still up for grabs in my opinion , think wigan will lose more than they win, we just need some bodies back and put a good run together

| Highlights now online, whether Flower is offside when the drop kick is attempted is debatable.
First try is difficult to see, probably ok.
