| Quote: mosher "Anyone planning to do any parkruns in Aus? I'm doing North Wollongong on the 10th Feb and Albert in Mlebourne on the 17th.'"
I did the Albert Park Parkrun when in Melbourne for the World Cup. Made most welcome and a lovely run. Started at 8.00 though so an early start.

| Quote: the artist "if you want to get out and about by bike in Sydney, Bonza bike tours hire out bikes, helmets (mandatory in australia) bags and tools - everything you need for a spin round the city. 40 dollars for a day. a word of warning though, Sydney isn't the friendliest cycle city in the world, especially when it comes to riding on the road, away from the cycle paths'"
pffft don't worry about that, there are bikes everywhere, just download an app, find a bike, scan the barcode & away you go, much cheaper & more convenient, you just leave it by the side of the road when youre finished

| Quote: Tarquin Fuego "I live in Melbourne and Sydney is not known for rail
Trains can be expensive and not like Europe at all
Uber is very cheap here
However here is a must to save $$$$$ from arrival
There is a train at Sydney airport - use it to get to central Sydney
You are looking at 6 quid a pint minimum probably 8 quid in Sydney
Much better off buying cold cans from Off licence and drinking in a park or the wine is very cheap in a box for example , depends on budget
As long as you behave well people can drink around the many BBQ areas they provide for free
Just bring your own sausages etc
Aussies are quite particular about cleanliness and good social manners
However having been on a couple of Barmy Army tours they absolutely love a great laugh and singing
Aldi is cheap as chips here and the street food/ Vietnamese etc is to die for
Wollongong will defo roll the carpet out and there will be loads to do
And see for couple days
It will be humid and around 30c
Byron Bay is great for a departure from
Sydney and Melbourne is the coolest city in Aus by a mile and an hour flight from Sydney
My 50th lads weekend is in Wollongong so I can't wait'"
8 squids for a pint??? pffft dont be silly, are you sure you live here?? you won't get hit up for that much unless youre really ripped off, and if you have any brains you won't be drinking pints, they go warm too fast in the hot weather & you'll struggle to find a pint anyway, stick to schooners, smaller, cheaper & more chance of staying cold
Wollongong won't know you are coming & its not like there is much to do there anyway, although for you poms you'll probably get a few cheap thrills out of some nice beaches, a few decent pubs etc, but if youre after somewhere livelier, get back to sydney as soon as possible
The trains to the Gong leave relatively often & are pretty cheap, dont bother with expensive tour buses etc, the trains are nice & air conditioned, serviced etc

| Quote: Karen "We booked last night. Flights leaving Manchester on the 7th and returning on the 18th were £670 with minimal lay ups and an apartment with private bathroom (so many have shared bathrooms!) for 10 nights was £1085 making it just £1212.50 each. We're going to hire a car too so we have the freedom to get around and down to Wollongong.
189 sleeps!!!!

cars a god option, nice easy scenic drive down to the Gong, be careful going down the mountain into Wolongong, some good little trips down the coast from the Gong, try Kiama & Gerringong, Mick Cronin owns the pub at Gerringong, shouldn't be to hard to find, i believe he's usually up for a RL chat, also a bit further down is Berry, lovely little country town, very arty etc, better on a weekend, quite a few wineries around that way also

Would be grateful for any tips from our friends down under or anyone who has found cheaper alternatives ?
Thank you in advance.'"

Our issue was transport from the airport to Woolongong when we arrive. Were staying about 10 mins from the ground.
Only four nights in Woolongong then moving to Bondi or Manly for the remainder.'"
train from the airport to Wolli Creek, train from there straight down to the south coast, have a look at the Sydney Trains website for timetables

| Quote: BoothferryBoy "Just back from the RLWC and can't wait to go back for the main event in February.
A great tour with some unbelievable memories but only one minor issue...All beware over zealous security staff in the 'pubs'. Not sure they are used to the boisterous nature of English RL fans and there where consequently one or two unpleasant situations where elderly (50's) fans where ejected with inappropriate force for apparently doing very little. To add salt to the wound on each occasion these fans where arrested once they had been dispatched to the street.
The beer is ridiculously expensive and weak !!'"
perhaps your accents gave you away, your reputation precedes you, youre the only country in the world who use the word "Glass" as a verb

| Thank you Jack.
For the record I do understand what a verb is but didn't consider that when Downo used ''glass'' he/she was referring to a hideous form of assault.
oh dear Downo !!

| Sorry, Jack no offence meant by my reply and no offence taken by yours.
A little offended by the ridiculous "glass" comment by Downo though.

| How are people getting from central Sydney to the Anz for the St George game?
seen it written on a few places that transport tickets for more special events there are included in your match ticket, but can't see to find this confirmed anywhere? and then google maps can't seem to find these 'express' trains on the match day, only ones I can find require a few changes.
