Good point, MR.
In fact you have to right back to 1988-89 and Widnes when someone other than Wigan, Leeds, Saints or Bradord were RL champions.
Mind you it could be worse. In Scottish football only Celtic or Rangers have been Champions since 1985-86 and between them they've won all but four league titles since the mid 60s (and three of those were consecutive seasons in the 1980s).

| Seeing that we're now 26 years into super league, I wonder how this concentration of the title in so few clubs compares to the 26 years beforehand.

Wigan were Champions for each of the last seven seasons before Super League but between 1970-71 and 1988-89 the following clubs won the league
St Helens
Leeds
Dewsbury
Salford
Featherstone
Widnes
Hull KR
Bradford Northern
Leigh
Hull FC
Halifax

Yep. Bayern Munich made it 10 in a row Bundesliga titles earlier this year. It’s not unique to SL.
However, a point I’ve made (i.e. absolutely flogged to death) recently is that I doubt Rangers or Celtic fans go around spouting off about their superior culture and how they do things the right way to fans of Motherwell, St Johnstone or Kilmarnock. Or, if they do, I imagine fans of those other clubs at least have the gumption to tell them where to stick it.
Even US sport, which is generally considered much better balanced saw the Patriots reach 9 and win 6 Super Bowls in 18 seasons, and the Warriors and Cavaliers contested four NBA finals in a row. However, those runs include contenders for the greatest teams/players in their sports histories’, and there’s an assumption that it won’t go on indefinitely.
SL feels like a league where time stood still. A player being ‘ambitious and wanting to win trophies’ is synonymous with requesting a transfer to St Helens or Wigan. Is winning trophies there even impressive at this point? I’m not claiming that the lads at those clubs don’t work hard or aren’t talented, but at this point it just feels like the medals come up with their rations.

Not shocked at him getting a job, as think he had some good qualities, could see him being involved in junior pathways, but surprised to see him as a defence coach.
Glad he has a job though, as seemed a nice guy.

Just read that this morning so I had a quick browse at the 2022 superleague table to check the defensive points against. Don't think England Rugby Union have took note in terms of defence coaching.

Wasn't all his fault, think Ellis was mainly responsible for defence, but he will have had his say. When he played I'd say his attack was his strongest part of his game too.

Similar thinking, thought he (Hodgson) would have been better suited towards an attack coach

| Certainly a move that has come out of left-field but then he's well known to Eddie Jones.
Good luck to him, a decent man, the job at Hull unfortunately just didn't work out.

| Seems a strange move when you look at how poor we where under his tenure but he had good links with Eddie Jones. Not sure how successful an appointment, though time will tell but how much time Jones has left is another story.
Best of luck to Hodgson.

Can't really say he did much while he was here. Our attack was blunt apart from Connor.
Seen Chris OConnor is now the Welfare officer at Salford too
