| I'm quite surprised that his off field behaviour is a factor in him going. He doesn't strike me as being a problem in that respect, but like the vast majority of us on here we haven't got a clue what goes on.
If it is a Gale and Reynolds combination it makes sense bringing in Hampshire because those two are massive injury risks. If the reports are correct maybe that's why Hampshire hasn't signed a new deal with Trinity.

| I wish him well for the future. Certainly had his critics but I doubt very much we'd have won the Cup in 2016 or 2017 without him. Then there's numerous games won by drop goal such as Catalans away a couple of years back.
I'm nervous about Gale given his injury record but for a season and with a bit of luck he could do a job for us.
Things are definitely being shaken uo at the club which after four years of disappointments is no bad thing.

In terms of him going, perhaps the club have a big target identified for 2023, told him he wasn't getting renewed and if he could find a club this year, then we must have known we could get someone to cover us for a year.
If we get Gale and Hampshire for Sneyd - then that for me is a definite bonus. Gale is the better 7 out of him and Sneyd - attacks the line, kicking isn't too shabby and stronger defensively. It is just that injury worry - but Savelio got over his, maybe Gale just needs a fresh outlook'"
Agree with most of that but Savelio was a lot younger than Gale when he was picking up injuries. With Gale lets hope it's not going to be a Long and Dykes signing.

We have been crying out for changes for the last few years and credit to the club for finally addressing this.

| Maybe Gale has been brought in to aid Hookem's development..
I wouldve been surprised to see Sneyd, get a contract renewal here at the end of the upcoming season.
Sneyd will be 31 soon, 3 year deal, and closer to his family home, no brainer for him..

Exactly, I'd rather have Gale for a year than give Sneyd a 3 year deal, Gales definitely a more attacking player if fit, but if he isnt than Hookem gets some gametime.
Hodgson can already see the areas of weakness in the squad and is doing his best to sort it our which is tough this late.

Do you realistically think FC could get Gale and Hampshire and only pay Sneyd’s salary? Either Sneyd was almost on a marque wage or Gale and Hampshire would be playing for peanuts.

Gale’s 33, IF he signs, it won’t be a big contract, probably his last Super League one and a skills coach for Hookem. Hampshire has knocked Wakey’s offer back, certainly won’t have been a big deal so feasibly, yes, both deals could be handled, especially if Bowden is off. It’s all ifs and buts and here say, anyway.

It doesn't follow that Sneyd's salary would be the same as the hypothetical Gale+Hampshire salaries. Surely even you understand that?
Other players have left and other players have signed. Some players will get an upgrade and other may take a cut for whatever reason.

| If and a big if, if Hampshire signs he's replacing Reynolds?
One good thing, after weeks of inertia this forum has come alive

| Seems (if the Gale bit materialises) that it's beneficial for all parties. As others have said, you've got to take your hat off to BH, AP & JC in the way they've made things happen in a difficult situation.

| Didn't see that one coming tbh. It certainly sounds like it was a mutually beneficial arrangement. The implication is that he knew his contract wouldn't be extended so a long deal at Salford suits both parties.
I wish him well, an integral part of those CC winning sides. A key part of all the big moments in our first win at Wembley.
Probably the right time for a change though. Interesting times.

Gale had another year on his contract at Leeds didn’t he? He would be unlikely to sign a one year contact with FC for less than he would be getting by seeing out his contract.
