He was right in the end: |
|
| Best thing Bulls could do is go all out for a 20k attendance against Leeds (remember they used to get 24k for this) ask all the crowd to pay £20 (Leeds would anyway)
Thats £400k off the gates plus bars etc, have a fire sale in the club shop and possibly half a mill might roll in in one day......

| Quote: Marfa Manu "For the 10th time I do not give a flying about Bradford I am an FC fan, what is childish about that ? Of course I want a couple of decent players to strengthen my squad what is childish about that ? Get real this is Super League not Hull & District! Like mentioned I doubt you showed this much empathy when the Dobbins hit the wall!
So you consider it was good business to sign a player for 5 yrs last week and then bring the begging bowls out this week ? they are a bunch of idiots!! And yes if they want to keep their club they should be releasing prize players and not signing them up for 5 yrs!'"
Not caring is indifference, you seem to be enjoying what's happening. That's not the same.
And as Neville Bartos said about Whitehead. It increases any fee they can get (from nothing, BTW), and with the sums in question it's really not a simple case of releasing players. They need to raise more than half of the salary cap.

| Quote: Marfa Manu "I do realize that, however you do realize that if they do not get £1m together he will be a free agent ?
They could have sold him to keep the coffers at bay and also looked at releasing a few others on a transfer package, then they could have been honest with their fans and said we need to start raising money etc and formed a plan instead of having to find half a million in 2 weeks! even if they put Whithead on the market now they would not get that kind of money, like I said idiots!'"
How do you sell a player who's out of contract at the end of the year, to teams who mostly have this year's salary cap tied up? And even if you can manage that, how much do you reckon you'll get for them? I'll give you a clue, it's not even close to half a million.

Are you stalking me
I notice you fail to reply to Wilf who mentioned what Bradford did to Hull. interesting. For the record I am well over what Bradford did, they were not the only one's, however I am unsure what bit you cannot grasp I would be the same if it was any other club in this mess due to mismanagement, ...as I am sure you was with the dobbins..There are some clubs in the N1 with a fantastic history in the game, give them a shot.
I would not call this enjoyment, I would call it life, sh1i happens, move on get on with it! My only interest is what players we may be able to get on the cheap to strengthen my club.

| Quote: Marfa Manu "Should be, with a few others, Bulls will not get the full price now as they have gone public with their dirty washing, so that leaves the buyer in the stronger position. They would have possibly got more for him and a few others had they released before all this.'"
How on earth does it do that? Until he signed that contract any club looking at him were guaranteed that he was a free agent in November, even with this news it's still only a possibility that he will be. All this news really does is alert clubs to the possibility of buying him out, putting him potentially back on the market but at a fee instead of for nothing. If Bradford have to let him go, somebody will pay for him rather than wait it out, that wasn't the case before.

Wilf said he didn't like them and what they did, but also that 2 wrongs don't make a right. You seem to be thinking we should take whatever we can and sod them as some sort of revenge.

Please show where I have said that!
I can assure you the only thing I am thinking right now is how I find hilarious that you are obsessed with my posts!

This announcement means that clubs now know that Bradford may not be able to say no to a good offer, so someone will look to get ahead of the rest by buying him now.
Bradford go from getting £0-25kish for him (which would be 2.5% of their debt), to maybe selling him for in the region of £100k (10%).
If that happens his new deal was a belting move.

It's more the tone of your posts and your earlier harking back to Radford (you weren't alone in this, I didn't mean to seem like I was singling you out).
Maybe I've misjudged, but I do think a lot of what you've said on this subject is way off the mark.
I'm done now as it's taking over the thread and must be annoying others by now.

| Quote: carl_spackler "This is my last attempt to explain this one.
He was out of contract next year.
That means anyone wanting to buy him would have had to pay 1 year's salary for him, or 18 months if they wanted him for now.
I think most clubs would actually sooner wait the contract out (because if he'd not signed a new deal this year you'd have to expect it was because he wanted out), and probably not have enough cap space to accomodate him this year anyway. So any fee would be negligible on the scale of their debts.
He signed a 5 year deal.
That means the purchase price is now in the region of 5 years of his [iincreased[/i salary, less a bit because clubs know they need the money.
This announcement means that clubs now know that Bradford may not be able to say no to a good offer, so someone will look to get ahead of the rest by buying him now.

But it is only a belting move if they raise £1m, are you convinced they will do that in such a short time ?
