| Quote: The games afoot "People would have said that about Watkins move to 2nd row…tbh,Bonaire has got a point about Carlos in 2nd row.
As for the game…sounded as though they give it a dig,goal-kicks cost us but that happens but why play Houghton when not 100%……end of the day…valiant efforts don’t win games and Grix has still won just one.The next 5 games are seriously scary but can see a couple of good thumping im afraid.'"
Watkins was already a good line runner and to a degree so was Griffin although I dont accept he has made the transition. Carlos isnt a great line runner and his biggest strengths are his defence and running out the back field.
He hasnt the skill set to move to the back row and we dont need another experiment either.

| Quote: bonaire "dont think so
Had the chance to shine having a class half like Clifford playing with him but he didnt and it was evident then that the pace he had at Castleford was lost since his first serious injury there.
Never runs the ball now and personally dont think he will improve whoever is around him.
He has been another signing that has been a huge disappointment particularly if he is a Marquee player.
I agree injury has not helped him but we cant go on week after week blaming his injuries for underperforming'"
Hes being injured for the most part, serious injuries and had no pre season for 3 years. Given he has to have several half back partners, constant changing in SR and centre positions I think that plays a bigger part.
A settled side with better players he will be better, thats not to say he will be world class though.

Thank you for being rational. The guy has had it tough. We have turned a corner now and folk still finding fault. We are no world beaters but we’re doing ok after an atrocious start to the season well done Grix etc

| I think we got the better end of the deal with the Aydin/Brown swap. He's settled in well and has been really good for us. Massive engine.

cartoons/WB17.gif I've been on the internet and have already got a sense of the fans' passion for the club. They are very fanatical - Peter Gentle 12th September 2011.
Money doesn't talk it swears, Obscenity who really cares, Propaganda all is phony.
I'm the son and heir of a shyness which is criminally vulgar.
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way.

| INOUTAgree with what everyone is saying tonight. The effort is certainly there, can't fault the players attitude and commitment in recent weeks, especially when compared to the nightmare opening three months of the season, some of the goal-line defence was excellent, almost heroic at times, so plaudits to all on that score. Thought the Briscoe sin-binning was a little harsh, but that's the way the game is now, and in the end it was probably the decisive moment in the deciding the outcome.
The unfortunate aspect is that we are a low-quality side, in truth a bottom-three team, and we simply do not have the standard of players to tip these narrow defeats into victories. That is a consequence of our recruitment decisions over recent years which is an ongoing situation which will take time to address.
I don't like watching us lose, I never have, it becomes depressing for all of us when we are on a run like this, but sometimes you have pick out the positives where you can find them and build on them to move forward, and hopefully we can slowly continue to improve over the next few (tough!!!) games.
I'm a good deal more positive and hopeful than I was in February/March/April when I had genuine fears that the club was about to fall through a trapdoor. I am certainly a good deal more hopeful about our chances for a victory next Saturday than I was before Good Friday (when I was fearing a massacre!). If we can replicate the effort of recent weeks and the crowd become involved and we get the bounce of the ball at the right time then it's not beyond us to pinch a derby upset win. Think the pressure is on rovers after their defeat yesterday and hopefully we can turn that to our advantage. Either way, I'm now hopefully that we have reached the bottom of the curve and we are once more moving in an upwards direction.
Keep the faith everyone.

| We now have players who have some desire and effort. a few smart signings by Myler and we have gone from getting beat by 40 points against Leigh and Hudds to been one play away from beating decent teams who are in the play offs.

| Moy is definitely improving in attack. At first I thought he was just speed and evasion, but he’s shown better passing with two assists in two weeks. Still, today involved in two obstruction penalties - his timing and awareness is off, but this experience will do him the world of good. His break in the first was brilliant.
Agreed Carlos looks good again. Would definitely consider keeping him if he’s off quota.
Reynolds made a few mistakes, but still did way more than Trueman. Took his try well and was busy. Agree Trueman needs to up his game.
9 of the 17 from our academy (counting Briscoe and Balmforth), 3 of them teenagers, and only 3 quota players. Taking 5th in the league all the way, away from home.

A good line runner is not the criteria for a second row although it does obviously help
Lane is a good line runner but hardly a quality second row
To say Griffin has not made the transition into second row is ludicrous.
I was a major critic of Griffin as a centre and one of the first to advocate he moved into the second row.
Once he increased his fitness and workrate he became a very good second row for the club and it was only his brain farts and possible attitude to a previous coach that saw him leave the club.
He is a regular in the Wakefield team playing second row and scored again today.
Maybe you will change your mind when you see him next season playing for Wakefield against us in S/L

I noticed that. Going forward Staveley, Martin, Moy, Balmforth and Charles all look capable of making the grade and there are others not far away as well. We've witnessed a shambles on the field for the last few seasons but we are producing quality through our youth set up and that makes me feel optimistic about the future. Need to be patient with these kids though.

| Great effort, sin bin cost us, happens every week in games but never gets penalised, bit more composure, less brain farts and less daft penalties and we will win.

| Just thinking
Could Martin have gone nearer the posts with his try ??
The tv doesn’t show how close the other defender was but also Martin looked like it was the corner and nothing else

| Effort is there, we just lack some quality. Moy is getting better every game
I think you'll struggle to see a softer yellow card all season than the Briscoe one.
On the Reynolds miss kick for Lanes try, he looked to have taken a knock the play before. Mightve been better for Sutcliffe to take the kick

| I have been quite critical of Grix for some of his comments in recent weeks, however one thing that can't be taken away from him is that he has got this young group fired up and competitive again. I thought we were really unlucky to lose yesterday, going down to 12 for such a soft offence is incredibly frustrating and was ultimately where Salford racked up most of their points.
What is pleasing to see is the likes of Moy, Martin, Balmorth and to an extent Gardiner not looking out of place in Super League and getting better with each game. I also thought Kirby made a good account for himself on debut.
