| Quote: R.B.A "That's kind of the point of it though. To be above a club with your aspirations at this point of the season is a success for Rovers given the stage we are at.
Most Rovers fans are realists and don't expect the situation to continue given the gulf in resource between the 2 clubs currently.
We are building though. Its a shame that injuries have scuppered our chances of Derby victory but I still expect us to be competitive with you.'"
What gulf in resources?
Also we will have more out that you for the derby, a few injured, two suspended and at least 5 out with covid, let's be honest you have a had a good run with injuries and even when you had covid if you didnt lose many players for the games after like other teams.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?: |
|
| Quote: Chris71 "I'm not arguing about the system stopping clubs being forced to play when the numbers are seriously reduced but given the amount of postponements I'd question if the system itself needs adapting like others have said if a player has no symptons and gives a negative test then rather than have to isolate could they be cleared to continue?
Any player that tests positive then that's a no brainer of course.
And yes there maybe 6 times as many cases compared to the start of the season but so far in no other sport other than SL seems to have so many issues so its a fair point to question the policies and procedures as to whether they need adapting.'"
Other sports have been affected eg England one day squad was completely changed at short notice, football friendlies are being cancelled.
Cricket seems to be coping, but not may other sports to compare with, although the NRL is in a bit of a pickle at the moment.
Anyway, this might help, but not a lot. The RFL's hands are tied.
Quote: Chris71 "From 16 August in England, fully vaccinated adults and all under-18s contacted by NHS Test and Trace (not the app) will be advised to take one PCR test as soon as possible.
As long as that is negative, and they don't develop symptoms, they won't need to take further action.'"
It sounds like the "return to play" protocol is currently under review.

I thought we were the perennial super league under achievers though? That’s what Rovers fans always tell us. We’re not a super league powerhouse. You’re above Leeds as well yet being above Hull is what matters.
You can’t have it both ways - downplay our status when you’re below us, but elevate us when you happen to be above us?

I agree totally about the point you make, rovers have money and are about to buy their ground, and can afford to sign quality players e.g lachlan coote, shaun kenny-dowell,korbin sims and made a good bid for blake austin, who decided hull was too far away from his current base. You are also are correct that injuries may hamper rovers beating hull,

Korbin Sims? Alright for bullying half backs I suppose.
He’s the Billy Baldwin of the Sims family. Even Ashton is better than him and that’s saying something.

No, if we’d beaten Huddersfield and Leeds, plus beaten against Salford and Leigh in the games postponed due to Covid, we’d be on 23 points from 15 games. That would have put us joint third with Warrington on 76.67%.
All ifs, buts and maybes though. We’ve already lost those two games and both the Leigh and Salford home games have yet to here-scheduled. At least they’ll have to be our first two re-scheduled games.

In hindsight the remark was a bit harsh. I’ll apologise to Billy Baldwin when I see him.

Coote is a good signing but apart from this season Kenny Dowell has been a poor signing. His nickname should be brain fart.
You surely cant be serious classing Sims as a quality player?

Stats say last night he made 17 tackles, missed 7 and gave away 2 penalties. With an average gain of 6 metres (only 64 metres made in total). As a contrast, against Leeds Chris Satae made 35 tackles, missed 0 and made 201 metres. For the big money he is undoubtedly been paid, he is terrible. In fact for any amount of money he is pretty poor, but because he celebrates when the opposition knock on Rovers fans seem to think he's the best and most passionate prop around. Reality is a poor version of LMS. I chuckled when Rovers signed George King but while he isn't a world beater he goes about his business quietly and has actually looked a good signing for them.

To be fair not as terrible as Albert Vete. How the hell do they find a pair of shorts to fit him.
And to think Rovers fans were calling Satae and Sao overweight plodders.

I should keep some of that money back Des, there was a chap on Radio Humberside this afternoon, saying a figure of £300,000 of unauthorised funds had been channeled from Hull College, and awarded to rovers as a grant towards your stadium , he seemed to think it was illegal, and further investigations are ongoing.

I will. He’s often in Morrison’s on Holderness Road. Buying fish sticks for Stephen.
Alec has someone to go to Waitrose for his shopping.
