If he can get a severance and another contract then I think he will be off - better for him all round.
Instead of proving us wrong in the future it would have been good to see him prove us right while he was here. I was one that called for him to have a good pre season after thinking he'd been dropped right in it last year then kick on this season. He's had some chances and had they been taken he would be first choice. Fact is he hasn't done anywhere near enough in a key position. If he'd even had a decent kicking game it would have helped the team dramatically.
For sure he's young and has always been spirited and put the effort in but in top level SL in a key position that isn't enough.

I can't remember exactly what games he was given pre-season but he was definitely royally shafted at Fev, put on with the u19s in the second half of a pointless friendly and overwhelmed. I thought that was pretty harsh of Radders
I agree he hasn't covered himself in glory and he's been (IMO) the weakest of our half backs. But he's clearly out of favour anyway so it might be best for all if he's either released and paid off or transferred elsewhere.

Certainly suffered at Fev in the RW game for sure. If you're playing well you're rarely out of favour and I think it would be the best route as you say.

| Jacob comes from a league where halfbacks are developed differently, at 21 he shouldn't have been seen as the one to lead a team. Apart from the exceptionally talented ones, scrum halves don't usually break through until they're 23/24. When NRL clubs do give the young talented ones a chance they're almost always put alongside an experienced partner, in fact I can only think of DCE & Foran at Manly that haven't done it that way and even then DCE was 21 when he debuted and had Matt Orford briefly.
He's been a victim of circumstance for me, we badly need a SH, so bad that the failings of the whole team at times has been blamed on our 7's, from Dykes' injuries to Long being finished to Seymour being cack, despite struggling with mental issues and finally a young Aussie dropped in to a team well before he's ready and lambasted because he's an ex-coaches 'golden boy'.
We're known throughout the league and it's fans as being the 'halfback graveyard' simply because of the pressure we put on them.
Jacob will develop in to a good halfback, you just don't have the junior career he's had without having something. Unfortunately he was expected to be the master when in truth he was still an apprentice. This is why i'm very happy we've signed Pryce to play alongside Sneyd.

although I'd also add Luke Brooks to your list.

I'd completely forgot about Anasta to tell you the truth. If I'm not mistaken a good example of this would be Gold Coast signing Scott Prince last season to help guide Sezer & Kelly.

| It's not just about having the right players around you but the right coaching set up. I'd wager that between them last and radford know less about 1/2 back play than miller does. I feel sorry for the kid. He must have some talent but he's not up to a pivotal role in 1st grade right now. I hope he goes back to oz and learns his trade at a club with the resources he needs to develop

was gonna bring that up myself, Kelly is a special player, but even he needs a mentor on the field.

Scott Prince played for the Broncos last year, but he'd have helped Ben Hunt so I know what you mean.
Gold Coast are a classic example of the problems we have, Sezer and Kelly are both very young and inexperienced and it shows when the team are in the opponents 20 and general game management (sound familiar?). If Beau Henry had a yard more pace and some heart he'd be an awesom halfback, I speak to a guy who watches the Titans religiously and their reserve grades and he says he's the best territory kicker he's ever seen! Both Hull clubs have come close to signing him in the recent past.

Spot IMO, it's one of the chief reasons Australia produces more quality halfbacks than we do.
The highlighted bits in particular have started to creep in over the last few years. We've had so many problems with the halfbacks that we've even started to attribute coaching/setup deficiencies to them.
